I've had my OpenBox for a few months now, like it so much I'd buy the company if Popcorn hadn't beat me to it. If you got one for Christmas or recently weigh in with your first impressions.

I got both an Azbox & an Openbox. So far I like the Openbox better for a couple of reasons. One the Azbox seems to have a much higher threshold & it is kinda slow. The Openbox scanned the channels that the Azbox would not get and is faster. So for me, I vote Openbox.

Planning to order one for me, I see ebay $149 with free shipping is the best option. Anyone already purchased thru this dealer??? How about warranty??

I got mine from Hyper Casey about three weeks ago, and I have to say it is the best of the four boxes I have. It was an early Christmas Gift, from Phottoette to me.

Then, so there would be something to open on Christmas, we were in Las Vegas on Christmas Eve (for dinner, our Yule Tradition) we stopped at FRYS and she bought me the Seagate 2TB external HD. It didn't make it under the tree, it was opened when we got home, and plugged into the wall, then USB to the Openbox, and worked perfect out of the box. With 20G Timeshift.

There were "other" things too, but who cared? I got my Openbox, hope you like yours too (big smile).

The more I hear about the Openbox, the more I want one..If my Gateway computer hadnt gone bad in the last month, I'd be 100% sure about getting the Openbox this year at Income Tax..

Am using a brother-in-law's 9 year old Compaq Computer in the meantime..Very slow-Not much Hard Drive to speak of. Plus I need to replace an IPod Touch I lost in the snow two weeks ago..(ouch)..Hope It all works out, but the first priority is to get the computer replaced..

It is probably the same guy mine is coming from! There is a "Best Offer" button too and he does accept offers! He took mine and it was cheaper yet!! ;)

Mine came a day b4 xmas eve and sittin here right now looking at network feeds on g4/g16 right now. This is awesome, since SRL won't have the 4 major NETWORKS after 1/6 (gotta locate the CW and FOX now) - Little rocky start but I think I am hooked.

Tim,

You should live with the slow computer till Spring when the snow melts and you find your Ipod. Meantime buy the OpenBox now.

1st impression, little trouble with 3cable Component output. Would not show picture to old coxial only tv (Nintendo 64 plays fine through adapter box to same tv) - Same RCA cable hookup wouldn't play to big plasma(direct), finally stole the HDMI cable from my ps3, the OpenBox played Full screen for a minute went black... so I went back to the RCA cable-to-plasma. Bam she worked Full screen. Besides the VIDEO OUTPUT bugginess during hookup, picture quality now looks great. Looks easy to use, even slaved to an old dsr922. Now to play and learn the beast.

For those who are close to buying one... the same E-bay dealer mentioned above, is selling it for $139 and free S&H on their own website. Probably not for long. They must have bought a high quantity of these to be making a profit.

When you used the HDMI Cable did you change your Video Out setting to YUV in the Receiver TV System Menu ?

Couldn't wait any longer, Got a nice deal with the e-bay $149 seller. (by the way they have their own website). Since they were offering a $10 instant discount in their website I asked for the discount in the e-bay transaction and they agreed. So I ended paying $139.00. So from there since I owned a BILL ME LATER account I processed the purchased and got an additional $10.00 back. So finally I ended paying a total of $129.00 including shipping and handling , no tax at all!!!! So happy so far!!!

well couldnt find the guy you talked about. but found a guy out of toronto canada and he selling them for $150 and free shipping so i think ill go with him.thats still a fair price for a openbox, now im excited
as ill have a new toy for the new year.

I gave myself a 2 day late Christmas present and bought an $139 Openbox from the Southern California dealer today. Didn't have to drive all the way down there with the free shipping.

I love mine except for one thing. The clock/calendar resets to 12:00 1/1/2008 every time I power off (standby) with the remote. I've tries both clock settings but the clock still resets. Not much good for unattended recording if the clock doesn't work properly. I guess the alternative is to leave it powered on all the time but I'm not crazy about that idea.

Leave it ON. I did this with my 9200 for years and it never kept time. (with a smoke detector nearby!) I just checked the Openbox, and after 5 weeks, lost a minute. It's always ON also. AND it's COOL! Got a fan on the external HDD, but not the (SSO*) Openbox.
SSO - sathawk, solomend, openbox

I got mine in February 2010 when they first came out. This receiver has come a long way since they first hit the U.S.
Hope you all enjoy it as much as I have. I just got an Iomega 1Tb hard drive yesterday for mine. I love being able to record with it...Blind
