My DVR1100c prompted me to download new software. I clicked the OK sometime yesterday. It's stuck at the "WARNING. Do NOT power off" - but the Software Download and Flash write progress bars haven't started moving at all.

Is it safe to power it down?

You may turn off the master power switch on the rear of the receiver then repower after 10 seconds.

This error may have occurred due to a low Signal Quality reading. After repowering the receiver, press the Signal button to the top of the remote while the receiver is on Channel 1, "Glorystar One". If the Signal Quality reading is lower than 40%, the receiver received the notification that new firmware was available, but the Signal Quality is too low to reliably receive the data file. The dish may require slight realignment to increase the Signal Quality to 50%. You may find that the receiver already has a Signal Quality reading of over 50%, but there may have been an error in the satellite data transport stream which prevented the receiver from validating the new firmware file.

Once the receiver has a Signal Quality reading of approximately 50% on Channel 1, you may manually update the receiver by OTA (satellite update) or simply wait until Monday night for the next automatic update to occur.

To perform a manual OTA update:

  • Press Menu button in the remote
  • Press Left or Right Arrow to select the Accessory Menu Screen
  • Press Down Arrow to select OTA
  • Press Down Arrow to select Update Now
  • Once the Signal display text reads OK, Press OK to initiate the download and update process.
  • Do not attempt to operate or power down the receiver once the status bars indicates any progress. After approximately 5 minutes the receiver will automatically cycle through Standby mode then restart. The receiver will now have new firmware loaded and new channels list available.
