Something up with 5Max's launch?

this is what I was afraid. Men what a waste considering that there is already two channels of the same doing the same. 3 channels repeating the same HD content. Does that makes sense?

Agreed! I'd have much preferred them to come out with ACTION MAX. That would have given it a bit more variety or even MOREMAX as stated in the previous Charlie chat as that channel has at least Vangard Cinema.

Get ready for it. It is the same one all of the Starz, Showtime and HBO.:)

Not to the same extent. Cinemax seems to have the most theme channels, and the least diferentiation between them.

I mean obviously they are going to have the same programming...that's the whole point of the multiplexes, to leverage the programming assets. But at least I know when I turn on Starz Family, I'm going to see something suitable for the family. Starz In Black may play a little loose with the theme (anything with a Sam Jackson cameo qualifies), but they do show cheeseball "blacksploitation" that wouldn't get shown on Starz. Also, Starz Edge seems hard to distinguish sometimes, but at night, they are more likely to show exploitation type stuff. (Starz used to be squeeky clean, and even censored R-Rated movies that ran before 6pm.)

HBO Comedy shows old HBO Comedy specials that would normally never get pulled out of the vault. Not that we get it, but HBO Zone used to even have original programming (maybe they still do).

Showtime Beyond may show soft porn at night, but they usually try to keep with the theme...like some kind of virtual reality sex movie, or something about an alien that looks like a playmate. Likewise, Showtime Extreme is more likely to show something that has a car chase between the smut scenes.

There's no excuse for showing Patton on your sci-fi/fantasy channel, or Beerfest on your "women's" channel.

Wow, I just took a look at 5 Star's schedule and there really is A LOT of overlap. way more than I expected.

Any HD on 5Max yet?

Thinking on adding Max to my package

if you like to see the same programming on MaxE HD, MaxWHD and 5MaxHD? then added it. All three overlap tons of movies in HD. Three HD channel to cover the same HD content... I heard somewhere that this was consider "a waste of bandwith". Repeats, repeats, repeats,...

Thanks for the reply.
We know how some people around here just hates channels that repeats. ;)

If I can get in on the Max for a penny deal I will live with the repeats.

Well, and since your actual question wasn't really answered... yes, they fixed the problem, and 5 Star is mostly HD now.

But I really wonder if Charlie was doing some "drunk-programming" recently. Adding MoreMax HD and ActionMax HD instead of Max West HD and 5 Star Max HD would have provided at least a LITTLE more variety.
