Would this mean that DSL providers like AT&T & Verizon would shut down DSL service rather than upgrade the service then? Even though Uverse is supposed to be in my metro area,I doubt they'll extend the service to my town(mainly due to local politics.I don't think that our city leaders have any vision for upgrading cable & internet services in our town.if only you knew who long it took to get a sewer system here).
 
This only means that they are prevented from advertising it as a broadband service. They can still advertise it as High Speed Internet or other names. The FCC could choose what the definition of broadband is even further though which would really put a squeeze on the providers.
