Spotbeam Testing 61.5

Is there anyway to test if i'm covered by the spotbeam that includes NYC?

Is there a transponder I can test on 61.5?

I just checked the dishchannel chart , for philly, which is the same sportbeam as nyc it has:
11s15 61.5° ... Does this mean if I test transponder 11 and get a signal, i'm in the spotbeam?

You're in the state of NY ? If so, NYC's spotbeams covers you.... The spotbeams are much *larger* than people think.

I am BUT in Buffalo (upper northwest of NYS) and according to this map http://ekb.dbstalk.com/e12spots.pdf I am short.

I think the general consensus is, if you're within the "circle", you're guaranteed coverage. If you're even close to the outside, you should be fine.

If you have a dish pointed at 61.5' and you get a lock on TP17 (according to EKB: Dish Network Channels at 61.5°), you're good.

I get 17 on 61.5 (48 signal strength), but the spotbeam isn't on yet for NYC. I get the NYC HD locals now CONUS. I'm concerned once the beam IS on i'll be SOL. Perhaps I dont understand the relationships between beams and transponders?

New York's locals aren't on a spotbeam currently and will likely change so testing may be a moot point for now....

Transponders are on beams. One beam can contain multiple transponder frequencies.

I agree with Hall, since the NYC locals aren't beamed yet there's nothing to test. If you like you can scan through the the TP's on 61.5 and see if any of them switch to 61.5 and list as Spotbeam.
