Stargate is Back! (not anymore, cancelled)

And Prime Video should have plenty of money with "The Wheel of Time" production canceled.

We will hear more eventually but the two reasons being reported so far:

Th new show was crafted to appeal to the existing fan base. Amazon wants more. That seems a fixable issue if true.

Management changes within Amazon and MGM got rid of people responsible for ordering the show last fall.

Politics killed it. It probably have been killed quickly based on what I've heard. Just like Starfleet Academy.

As usual, devoid of any actual facts as you excitedly post this here and in The Pit. The comparison to Starfleet Academy doesn't hold - that show will have produced 2 full seasons when it concludes next year. Amazon's pattern is clear: the shows they keep - Fallout, Reacher, Rings of Power - all broke well beyond their existing fanbases. The ones that couldn't, like Wheel of Time and now Stargate, get cut. That's a business strategy, not politics. Especially in this economy.

Fixable perhaps, but after a 20-week writing room and the start of pre-production, perhaps more of a reinvestment than new leadership wanted to make on a show they didn't greenlight. Like you said, I'm sure we'll find out more in time if there's anything more to it than that really. A lot of belt tightening going on.
