My new bill for DISH just came up online it went up by about 70 cents, why? I called DISH and was told Texas had introduced a surcharge on satellite bills. Not that much of an increase but I haven't seen any news about new taxes. Anyone have any more information, or is this another DISH tactic to add revenue?:(

I bet taxes are going to hit everyone for Cable or Satellite in every state to make up for lost revenue for states that have over spent :)

Yes ,I saw a 64 cent increase on one of my bills for Tx state surcharge. So much for Gov. Perry saying he does not believe in increasing taxes on the tax payers of Texas.

Yes Mike my actual increase was 66 cents and Govenor Perry is 2 faced like most politicians. My wonder is where did this increase come from, the Texas Legislature meets every 2 years for a 140 day period, it last met on June 29,2011 and won't meet again till 2013. Where did the legislation come from to approve this surcharge in a non legislative year?

In TN we have no state income tax, but are paying 10% sales tax on everything including sat tv.

Danged if ya do danged if ya don't...They are gonna get us by hook or crook.I stopped in at a local store to get some gas earlier today and they had the regional st.gas tax displayed on the pump, holy crap NC is way above TN,SC,and,GA.

We have been paying roughly 7% sat tax for several years now.Could really go off on a tax rant but I'll keep it clean.:)

Hey Claude, useful info. Been a while.

That is the very thing I said to the DISH csr . I said most of our new laws go into effect in September of the odd year that the legislature meets ( last year 2011). So that means it should of went into effect last year not in JUNE of this year. Something doesn't seem right about this.

Is this thread really about 70 cents a month? That is $8.40 per YEAR. Or 2.3 cents per DAY. I have much bigger things in life to worry about than this. Give me a break.

If you say so. The day I start thinking about 3 cents a day is the day I rethink my entire life. Stop making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Somebody's gotta pay for his failed presidential run. Could actually be being done city by city. I haven't seen it yet on my bill.
