For those of us divorced over 5 years, have you kept up contact with your ex?

Personally, there are no kids from my first marriage, which lasted 6 or 7 years. Reasonably cordial split up, and I think highly of her to this day (I should, after the divorce I met and married the best woman in the world, and am happier than I ever thought I could be.) But lost contact long, long ago. And with her common name, it would be difficult to ever locate her. I don't think I could even dig up her SS or our marriage/dissolution date. No reason to.

Why is contact maintained/not maintained?

If it was not a bitter break up, you still have much in common that might promote further contact. You had common interests or you wouldn't have married.

Never

I have never gotten married either.

I prefer to move on even though 2 of the 3 breakups were of ME doing it

My wife tries to limit contact with her ex as much as possible. She does derive some satisfaction that he is aging rapidly, and his trophy wife has blossomed several dress sizes. :dev
