Is anyone out there still having problems with their 522?

I suffered through all the previous 4.xx revisions after having a very nicely stable 522 for almost a year now.

I had all the problems talked about in all the 4.xx threads but it is still continuing with 4.13.

I get lockups that take holding the power button down or unplugging to recover from. Even the dish network screen saver freezes. In other words the whole unit becomes unresponsive. After forcing a reboot it always does a system check which takes 5-12 minutes before it comes back. It has missed quite a few recordings because it locks up while idle and requires reboot to recover.

It also hits spots in recordings that it can't get past. It either locks up or goes back to the beginning. Fast forwarding through does the same thing at the same spots. Usually the only way to get past it is to fast forward just prior to the spot and then use 30 second skip to get past it.

It has never shown any errors about a bad hard drive. Oh.. and the fan is running fine. You can hear it kick up to full speed for a few seconds after a forced reboot before it goes back to very slow running speed.

Mine is working fine on 4.13 except for a few pixitations once in a while. Sounds like your's is having a hardware problem. Maybe you can swap it out.

Mine has been working fine since the 4.13 update. Have you checked the temp of your unit? It may be overheating and causing some of your problems.

I'm still having problems too. I get the lockups, and trouble getting past certain spots in a recording. I also have a problem where on power on TV2 is sometimes in B&W until I select a prerecorded show to watch.

Well..its been over a week on this one. I guess I'm going to have to call in. I hate to do it because their response will be a replacement unit instead of fixing their software. I don't want to lose all my shows that I'm behind on. I was hoping a fix would be coming.

I too have noticed the black and white on tv2, this is diffently a software problem, although if I hit the back button once it plays find. Dish really needs to fix this!

I see what you're seeing and I also had what seemed to be a perfect 522 before that other update. This is better but it's not anywhere near what it was. It does act wonky at times and all started with these last 2 updates

I am still having problems, too. In my opinion, it's unlikely that it's a hardware problem.

Dish is well aware of this problem

Dish replaced my reciever 3 times before they finally admitted that their engineers have no idea what is causing this problem & that there is (at least as of 12/28/2006) no ETA for a fix. They also refused to update my reciever without a $100 payment and new 2 year contract. Needless to say, I have dtv comming out soon to switch.
