Stocked up on Green Chiles Today

Advertisements
Tomatoes were shot, got some early on then they just burned up and turned yellow. I pulled them up about 2 weeks ago and planted some fall carrots that are doing well so far. Peppers are starting to come back. Got a few blooms on the hatch and a few small giant marconi's. The only thing that did well was my onions as they were ready before the heat wave hit and the silly hot fresno's. That thing is loaded and produced all summer. They're too hot for me, I've been giving them away to the ladies that come clean my house once a month. They have been making salsa with them. Going to plant some garlic sometime today or tomorrow since I have some empty space now.

For those in the region thoughts on these burgers?

If you are planning on getting any chile this year you might not want to wait too long. There are shortages due to the drought and pests this year.

My biggest problems I have with these burgers is twofold. First of all most of these places put way too many toppings on the burger. I hate it when you bite into one of these towering burgers and half the toppings or the burger patty squeeze out and fall onto the plate. Or worse, on your lap. The second thing is the bun. Again, too much of it and more often than not its very low quality. The bread to burger ratio is just off. You guys might think this is weird but my burger bun of choice is a Thomas's English muffin toasted over charcoal. Original or sourdough are both good. I want the burger patty to be, "The star of the show." At home I hand form 1/3 lb patties of 80/20 grass feed beef and cook them hot and fast over a charcoal fire. And I prefer using a whole green chile pepper (stem and most of the seeds removed) instead of chopping them. I guess what I'm saying is that most of the time I like my burgers better at home. :biggrin Back to the video, leave it to Santa Fe weirdness by putting calamari on a hamburger. Really? Yuck!
