strange problem with my program guide

Never mind a receiver reset fixed this problem

I prefer the "cold" restart - pulling power completely for a minute, then restarting. Seems to cure more issues than just a red button hit.

Not really. The "cold" start cleans the cache.

No need to do a "Cold Restart" like you mentioned, IF you do it thru the Menu's, should have the same effect.

Menu> Set Up > System Set Up > Reset > "ReStart Rec." ..... Not the others listed.
Proceed from there.

This is about the same as restarting your computer the correct way vs pulling the plug ... pulling the plug is always the last resort.
That said, sometimes you have no other options.

Yes, the Red Button Reset is a very basic reset, the other optioins clear more info and do an actual reset.
