Hello all. Im a DTV customer right now and my contract is up this September. I saw on the Dish site something about a Super Joey and you can record up to eight shows. It didnt elaborate much so I thought Id ask you guys how it works? I know they had said before you can record up to five but I know that includes recording the local shows at night. Thanks for your time.

The Super Joey adds 2 tuners to the Hopper system, giving 5 tuners total, 6 if you use the OTA tuner. Because the Hopper records all four networks (ABC NBC CBS FOX) on just one tuner, that would give you up to 8 shows recording at one time. (9 shows if you use the OTA tuner)

Which is a nice feature because it only uses one tuner all the time now for anything on the networks. They should advertise that fact in their DISH ads.

It is an awesome feature but I think it would be too hard to advertise. I think it would just cause confusion. Just look what happened with their PTAT ads and saying how they can record 6 shows at once. That's confused tons of people and everyone says it's misleading.

I'm not sure how they could advertise it unless they just showed a demo on TV so people could see it.

They could easily showed how it works in their Boston Hopper commercials if they had kept that campaign. I could see it being discussed between the family all through the house while they all say "Hawper" over and over again.:biggrin

It could be explained or demonstrated in the current campaign with the Hopper Kangaroo barging into some family's home to save the day :).
