I was planning on buying a new 211 hd receiver and I thought I would support this site's sponsors. I emailed The Dish Store with a question about beating another stores price like they say on their web site and have had no response in a week's time. The Dish Store was selling the 211 HD receiver for $119 and another authorized retailer online was selling it for $99 along with free shipping. Tonight I called their 800 # to ask the same question but they were only interested if I was going to sign up for Dish service. When I told them I wanted to buy a receiver they told me to call customer service and gave me the # (800-894-9131). I called and it was Dish Network's customer service #. I guess they don't really need the business.

best thing to do is send a PM to Claude Greiner
He's a member here and owns the DishStore so he might be able to help you out :)

You must have called after they closed for the day and got the answering service.
I did call late, maybe I did get the answering service. I would of thought that they would of said that the store was closed and to call back when they were opened though. I wonder how much business they lose if this is how they handle after hour calls?

Most people don't bother to call after hours.

You must not work in a service industry. People call at all hours of the day and night, every day of the week including national holidays expecting service in today's business world.

That's why they have an answering service capable of selling product when the brick and mortar store shuts for the night.

I consider Dish Store to be a retailer, thus would not call in the wee hours any more than I would Best Buy or Staples.

I just checked and you can call Staples and Best Buy 24 hours a day to buy something or ask a question. I work 5pm to 6am so when I called at 10 pm it was the middle of the day for me. When I talked to the person who answered the phone for The Dish Store he told me he could sell me a new system but not any receivers. He didn't say anthing about the store being closed or to call back another time. He gave me the # for Dish Network and he said they could give me the name of a company that could sell me a receiver. I will try one more time Monday and if not I have another retailer who sells the 211HD receiver for $ 99.00 and free shipping.

You want to talk to a computer/CSR or the owner of a small yet reputable company? Seems to me your "sense of tech" has dwarfed common "sense". Just call during normal business hours...no excuses for otherwise, please.

I have been sick for the past few days And alot of our calls have been going to our overflow call center.

As far as the $99 price from Dish Depot, normally we beat their prices but at $99 with free shipping I would be taking a $12-$18 loss! I'm not going to loose money selling an item.

I just looked and come back to this thread to report that Dish Depot is selling them for $115.99 and I see that you (KAB) sees the same price. Maybe he is just trying to say that another site is selling it cheaper to try to get a better deal?

Yea, I did check myself and they where listed on dishdepots site a few days ago at $99 with the free shipping.

I'll match $115.99 with the free shipping just to match their price, but literally when you figure in the free shipping I would be at a $0 profit.

The point of all this is that we are susposed to get an additional receiver activation incentive from Dish once these receivers are activated which is our "Profit" however this is only if a receiver is activated as an additonal receiver, and NOT as a replacement. Even if it is activated as an additional receiver we don't get paid 75% of the time due to the CSR's at DISH entering it as a direct sale instead of as a retail sale.

I used to get 20-30 of these payments per week, now I get 1 or 2 if im luckey. There is nothing on the backend, and DishDepot must like working for free :)

Here is the deal, the receivers are $99 from DISH Network. To get them to me I got to pay about $6 in shipping for a total of $105. To ship the unit back out to the customer you got another $7-$14 depending on where they live for a total of $112-$119.

How can you sell an item with $0 profit?

If you want a deal, here is a deal. I got some slightly used 211K receivers that came out of a hotel that are only 2 months old. They literally look brand new. $79 Plus shipping and includes a remote control. No manual or cables

Having my own business I learned years ago if it doesnt make $$ then dont do it.

After getting into a price war with a BIG competitor GBC.

I sold 11,000 rolls of film at a buck a roll over cost but had to deliver it all for free.

The only good thing that came out of this?

The GBC branch manager who started it got fired...

some customers were paying twice others, and corporate came in asked whats up your fired.....

He should go for that. Can always d/l the manual if needed and ½ the time most people don't use the cables that come with them.
