As for Russell, when will he learn anything? He is not playing the right game. Yes, he mastered the art of getting to the finals. But in this game it is not enough to outlast, outsmart and outlie everyone else. You also need to do it in a way that earns respect from the jury. And he did nothing to achieve that.
Yeah, at least Rob learned that lesson this season, unfortunately for him that style got him kicked off.

What Rob should have done, was team with Russell, that way he'd be in the finals against the only person who's ever pissed off more people than himself and he could be the lesser of 2 evils.

I'm not sure I'd say that any of us admire him. I think the key is that the show was better because he was on it. Watching him the last two seasons made those seasons better than most seasons (and I've watched them all). In all honesty I think that Parv probably should have won. She made some very bold moves and played a great game from every perspective - both mentally and physically. I just find it absurd that Sandra won after doing NOTHING. This is one of the reasons that I'd like for them to go back to having a final 2 instead of a final 3. I would have loved to see a vote between Russell and Parv (who in my opinion were clearly the two dominate people in the game).

I agree 100%. So frustrating that the two seasons spent in Samoa had such horrible endings. I was so surprised by how petty this jury was. If he had just taken Jerri to the final three, and she had won, I would have been ok with that.

Shake head repeatedly. :(

Sandra should have NEVER won!

Military service by her husband, gimme a break!
HE should have won the million for playing REAL Survivor and serving, but not her, and not by association with her husband.

I knew there was no way Russell was going to win, I was yelling at the TV for Jerri to win that final immunity! But to no avail! It was SOOO close!

So, by default, Pavarti (who I can't stand, also) had the best game and should have won, just as Russell said at the Reuninon.

I just don't get why he has so many admirers here....
The reason why Russell is so popular is that for two seasons in a row he single-handedly made this game way more entertaining! He took it to another level. Remove him from the past two seasons and the game would've been much-much less interesting to watch.

I don't necessarily respect him as a human being, but I do enjoy him as a charecter in this game. He makes it so much more fun to watch! :)

Completely agree.

The third person has split votes and become the go-to person for those who don't want to vote for the deserving person, winning by default.....

I agree 100% about Russell making the show *very* entertaining the past two seasons and I would have had no problem with Parv winning.....

I'm not buying that Russell doesn't have some admirers here. When he lost last season, people were NOT happy in this forum. Some people even changed their Avatars to pictures of him.....I just don't get that. From what we've seen of him on TV, he's a guy who trolls around like a jerk bullying around (mainly) weak females. Up until last week, it could have been argued that this was just his "role" on the Reality show.....that kind of went up in smoke when he assaulted a woman on the street.

It was a great season, though and I'm just trying to stir the pot a bit on this boring Monday morning! :D I don't want anyone to take my comments too personally (like Russell would :D :D)

I'm not sure why so many of you are upset that Russell didn't win.....While he made the last two seasons very entertaining to watch, he seems like a huge A-hole....possibly the worst in Survivor history. Did you see how he behaved on the past two reunion shows? Imagine how much worse he was in the field. He seems nothing more than a bully with little-man syndrome. I just don't get why he has so many admirers here....

BTW, he was arrested a couple weeks ago in Louisiana for assaulting a woman. Real admirable.......

I agree with Derwin0's sentiments, and was happy to see Sandra win.

I'm not upset that Russell did not win this time, I'm upset that Sandra won. I WAS upset he did not win Samoa, he was CLEARLY the winner.

Russell is a PLAYER. Even you have to admit that. I think the back-to-back thing made him worse the second season because he was exhausted.....not able to restrain himself as well.

Is he a jerk, no doubt, but so was Richard Hatch. But juries aren't the same anymore, are they.......all touch-.feely., and so damn sensitive. Parv should have won, if not Russell.

Do you have the details or a link for this? Was it some woman harassing him, like paparazzi, or just some Survivor fan that did not like him?

As Danielle said last night, "He doesn't get it!".

And I don't think he really does.....and maybe never will.

In retrospect, it may have been better for him to sit back, watch his season, and THEN come back and play again, so he could learn from his mistakes. But listening to him, he might not have changed one bit.....who knows???

He's an arrogant, but entertaining, little troll.

One thing he has going for him, is now in the future, everyone will want to take him to the jury! ;)

And he'll get them there.....

Russell is definitely a player (maybe the best ever), and those types of schemers are the most entertaining to watch on the show....

I don't think he "deserved" to win wither time, though. He is an absolute prick who only makes enemies - -- never friends. Like it or not, getting people to "like" you enough to vote for you is part of the game. A part Russell has failed miserably twice.

Did you see how he behaved on both reunion shows? It was ridiculous. He embarrassed himself and I'm sure he was far worse his entire time on the show.

Update: The Lafayette Daily Advertiser reports that Russell "was charged with simple battery" after police were alerted that a "woman was in a verbal argument with Hantz, during which he allegedly pushed her to the ground. The woman suffered minor injuries." The paper has Russell's mug shot.

Russell Hantz arrested for battery + reality blurred

There's other sources if you google it......

Paparazzi, fan, or stranger, he shouldn't be pushing women around.

Bad part was, I didn't like Sandra as a player, but I admit she is one of the smartest players there. No one can detect the way the winds blow as good as she can.

I can honestly say that she was the most deserving of the prize money. Maybe not for her game play (though she is 2-0 for it), but for the way her family has lived and served this country.

Not at all.

Lots of families in her situation or even worse when a parent doesn't come home......(and all of that would still be outside the game)

I despise Sandra, and have despised her since Panama. She is annoying and completely undeserving; she rode in under the radar; and is in the same class as Vicepia - the all-time least impressive survivor winner. Completely undeserving.

I understand fully that RUssell does not know how to win jury votes; and am fine this season with him not winning, but I think the juries have gotten too petty with getting voted off; they got outplayed by him, yet are not willing to admit it. Way too much ego.

Russell is right in that he did not play two seasons; he played for 78 days straight; and I think if he had time to decompress the Samoa experience, knowing what worked and what did not work, he would have made some different choices.

I wish Russell brought Jerri along; she would have won, or Parv would have won, and that would be have totally fine.

I'd rather see a military family win $1 million than an arrogant, abusive prick. Parvarti would have been a good choice too.

She already stole $1M from CBS from Survivor Panama; enough is enough; and I don't buy that argument anyway. It is not relevant that her husband is in the military.

Again, not relevant to the game. In the end I stick with the argument that Russell outwitted (look at Tyson), outlasted (78 days consecutively), and outplayed (pretty much everybody). This "social game" b.s. is just that. He should have been the sole survivor. I don't care if he was arrogant; it is what made him fun. And anything he has or has not done outside of the game is equally irrelevant to the game.

But alas, the "social game" has taken the primary role, and thus we get idiot winners like Sandra or Natalie. Parv at least was a player. I could see her winning.

I actually kind of like Russell's suggestion to give some votes to TV viewers.
I don't think this would've helped him win this time around, but perhaps it would've helped Parv...
