Where is a good place to buy a Suunto Tandem are they worth $169? Any lower priced brands that do just as good as a job?

Unless you're going to use it professionally, I sure wouldn't buy one.
But that's not what ya asked. ;)
NOTE: The Suunto Tandem comes in two versions -
One version comes with optical adjustment for reading and the other does not.
Please choose the one the best suites your needs.
Mfgr's web site? So, that appears to be the full retail price.
Would be nice to find it discounted. Maybe not enough volume/competition.
Can't tell which version is listed on Amazon.
If all else was equal, I'd give Sadoun the business. ;)

I have a 15 year old Suuunto Tandem that has been in a tool belt at several thousand installs. It remains accurate and no bubbles in the liquids. Easy to read in low light and the mechanics settle in quickly. Tried several of the competitor tandems and not impressed. One brand took forever to provide a stable reading and the other was very difficult to read. Well worth the extra money if is a tool for your trade!

Must say that the Dish Pointer App on my iPhone gets used a lot more action than the Suunto these days. Have all satellite coordinates available in the menus, so no need to reference aiming calculators or coordinates before a site survey. Extremely accurate and many installers like the fact that they can take a photo with the satellite overlay to show customers or the QC manager any line of sight issues. For the money, the Dish pointer app wins hands down........ :up

Thanks. I don't own a iPhone so I think I will have to go for the Suunto at least the battery won't die on it. ;)

I finally got my Suunto Tandem. Now to find time to aim. ;)

I wish one of the sponsors of this site would sell them I got this from Forestry Suppliers they sell them through Amazon and their website.

Congratulation on the new toy!

I think I'll spend about the same on this Virgin android phone and the $20 app Brian mentioned.
( LG Optimus V, and a $25/mo plan gets you 300 voice minutes w/ unlimited text 'n data! )
. . . and keep my battery charged. - :D

Plus, it works in the dark! - - even if I don't.
