We are preparing to install a custom Direct TV configuration . It is planned to mount the SWM dish ~ 150' away from the tele/data room in which all the equipment will be housed.

At present, it is planned to run the RG6 cable directly to an LA141 amplifier of which the output will go to a PI-21 power inserter. Output of the power inserter will then go to an SWS-8 splitter.

Question.........do you have any feedback as to whether there would be a problem locating the power inserter in this location, or would it be advised to be closer to the SWM antenna?

I doubt that the LA141 would pass the voltage from the PI. It might not pass the 2.3 MHz communications from the receiver to the SWM. At 150' you probably wouldn't need amplification.

150' should be ok if your using the PI-28 without the Amp. Not even sure if the amp would work right on a SWM setup. To be safe you could run RG11 outside. at that distance I would highly recommend running it in at least 3/4" conduit with a future use pull string (Kite String or Ugly Wire should be fine)

If you want to keep the PI with the splitters and inline with one of your boxes, just run a small jumper from Power Out on the splitter to the LNB In on the PI then Out to the Box that line belongs to.
