System Integrity Check

So I have a Bell 6400 satellite which I stopped service 3 years ago and disconnected the reciever from the satellite. But I still have all the recorded PVR shows from it I can watch and have been wathcing.
Just now, I turned the TV over to the satellite and it says system integrity check. It was removed from the coax line so that I could watch my recorded shows. The unit said this test can take up to 10 minutes it's running at 22 minutes now.
Should I power it off and disconnect the PVR and reconnect?
Am I going to loose the ability to watch my shows?
Perhaps it's just a hard drive problem and disconnecting it will make things right again?

Any help would be appreciated, I would hate to loose all the programs I recorded I haven't yet watched.

That is Canadian satellite system you got there. If it was DISH I would say unplug the receiver and then plug it back in and it might reboot and go back to working but not having the satellite cable connected DISH receivers will shut down after a while on their own. I have my old Hopper3 hooked up to the satellite and to ota so I can use it to record some network shows. Of course I don't get any satellite channels since I am not subscribed but I can still see my external hard drive shows full of movies I recorded before I quit DISH last year in December.

Thanks, the satellite did stop it's integrity check after about at least an hour, I turned the tv back on in a few hours to see it's progress and all controls were available again. So I did just leave it alone, but the external hard drive is still connected. I'm thinking if I'm not watching a show, I should disconnect the hard drive so it's not continually running 24/7 and unnecessarily causing it to fail early.

I wonder if the integrity check is interrupted, by turning the power off, if it damages the hard drive or ruins the possibility of the saved programming?

I've done it before, to escape a long time down while it checks stuff, but it will some times come back till you let it finish.

HDDs may experience more wear and tear with “frequent” startups and stops than just running. You cycling that power every few days?
