Telephone line question

I plan to use a new HD DVR at a home that has no telephone line. The agreement reads that a phone line is required. Customer Service at D* said that it is not required. Input please?

So far, D* has not enforced the printed requirement of a phone line.

You only need it for ordering PPVs with the remote.

if i may

another phone line question. what if i wanted to get a hr-20 and a r15? would i require a phone line to a)get the r15 installed, and b) to keep the r15 fully functional? thanks, and hope i'm not hijacking the thread.

You do NOT need phone lines for ANY of the non-Tivo DVR's, period...
