We all have our priorities. I would be happy to trade any number of the above mentioned band-width hogs for soccer in HD.

I feel the same way. People here don't want FSC in HD, well I don't want Big Ten Network in HD or any other college sports channel. Talk about niche programming.

I personally would like to see FSC, MSNBC, History International & ESPN U added as well as more HBO's, TMC's, etc. but I guess I'll take what they give me & be happy with it

That "Niche" market is why D* and other providers continue to expand. Sports programming is what keeps these companies in business. Pull the channels and services will be cancelled quickly since they will be attending the games live. Then D* and other providers wont have the subscriber numbers to make the pricing reasonable.

Yep, pull the channels then people will cancel services and start going to every Sunday afternoon football game in the US to see it live.

Don't order the Big Ten Network then.
Out of the Big 10 area it's a pay channel.

Yep...

No EI = No DirecTV for me. I would easily go to another provider that carries it, such as FiOS, if DirecTV pulled Extra Innings.

The only two things keeping me from going to FiOs now are:

  1. Can't take it with me when I travel, like I do DirecTV
  2. EI HD offerings are dismal on FiOS.
We can add, if Direct does add another 50 HD channels with D12, then they will have more HD than FiOS as well.

No, but if ST is one of the reasons for them choosing Direct and they pulled ST, then you would see many of those niche subs move to another provider for other reasons.

Football, aka soccer here in the states, is the most watched sport in the world. Its just a matter of time before it also becomes a major sport here in the US. We already have a few channels dedicated to the sport. It wasn't that long ago when not even ESPN would televise the World Cup for gods sake....

If I want FSC I have to order the Sports Pack, unfortunately it includes the Big Ten Network and MANY other RSN's that are a waste for me.

This is one of many myths of modern society.

The word "soccer" was coined by the captain of the ENGLAND national soccer team in the 1890s (the David Beckham of his day).

"Football" refers to any one of rugby, NFL, soccer, australian rules and gaelic, and since sports fans usually only watch one form, they call the one they watch "football".

In January FOX SOCCER CHANNEL wil start transmitting in HD. I don't know who will carry it but I hope D* will. Please call them and tell them that you want this channel added.

Can we have Versus back first?

you don't give a sh** about soccer? Well, I don't give a sh** about baseball. But, i am not so narrow-minded that I would suggest that it doesn't count. Minimizing soccer as a "minority sport " is both ignorant and inflamatory.

:rolleyes: since a few decided to shove their soccer opinions down others throats i thought it was appropriate i did the same ;) by the way i don't give a sh** about baseball either :eek::D
and i never said it was a minority sport. don't twist my words. i said a minority here in the US give a sh** about the sport which is why coverage here in the US is poor compared to other sports. capiche????????

by the way for those who think its ok to send a rude pm about this stupid topic think again. those who decided that sending pm's to other folks saying to shut up or other insults is ok,think again. if you don't know the rules i suggest you go find them and read them. sending insulting emails over something so stupid as this is childish and immature. (bit** behavior) its just a sport people! get over it. and don't bother sending me any pm's since they wont go through anyway ;) but feel free to try :p:D:D
