Ten years since...

I've had cable.Will be going into apartment next month,no access to satellite.Cable already installed.What is new that I should get,as far as changes that have happened?

Given the fact that no one knows what you want, what you're getting, where you're located, who your cableco will be, the best advice is to call the cable company....
