I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to do, but IR connections on those 2 receivers are for totally different purposes:
- The VCR IR jack is an IR OUTPUT, for use to activate RECORD/STOP on a VCR. It works like the EPG on a DVR, but instead of it being done internally on a hard drive, when that time event came up in the guide, it "blasted" an IR REC signal (thru an external IR blaster) OUT to the DVR; when the event was over, it then blasted an IR STOP command to the VCR.
- The Hughes IR remote connection on the back I believe actually says "RF remote". It is NOT for OUTPUTTING IR signals, but is actually for taking IN IR signals from an external RF antenna kit that Hughes sold for those particular models. It came with a new RF remote & a "sharkfin" RF to IR converter, that plugged directly into that jack in the back & enabled those receivers to work like an RF model.
I actually have several of those models sitting around, so I am actually looking at these.
If I am not correct on all my counts above, you might want to give us specific models of these receivers, which would enable us to help you more.
