I figured since there are 4 threads of all the divisions so far, I figured to make a thread of one of the divisions that hasnt been posted.

The AL West. What do you guys think? I might have to agree with KCK HALO and say the Angels are going to win the AL West title. Do you think Oakland, with Matt Holiday, makes a run at the title. Will Seattle at least be decent this year?

How will Texas ever be good with Kevin Millwood as there number 1 starter. They have a good line up but thats it. I think Seattle will have bounce back year. They have decent pitching and good lineup, so hopefully the shakeups they made will payoff.

From today's O.C. Register:

Word is the Angels are worried enough about their starting pitching to look around, especially at the Reds. And several Arizona teams have expressed interest in Boston reliever Manny Delcarmen. Boston needs a catcher, and could use another infielder and even another outfielder.

Delcarmen is the perfect example of a guy that needs a change of scenery.

He grew up in Boston, and has a very high ceiling. He's a strikeout pitcher that needs to work on his consistency. If he straightens himself out, he could become a dominant closer.

I'd like to trade Manny to Detroit for Marcus Thames.

Time to get out of Arizona!!!!

The Angels have a promotional tie-in with Claim Jumper, the restaurant offering a free order of "Angel wings" to fans holding ticket stubs to Tempe Diablo Stadium games in which the Angels score 10 runs or more.

The Angels reached double figures for the fifth straight home game today, pounding out 18 hits in a 13-3 exhibition victory over the Chicago White Sox. They have scored 103 runs and have 134 hits, 26 of them homers, in their last nine games.

You know what will happen next, don't you? You won't score more than 2 runs a game for the first 2 weeks of the season!:D

Yep! I am all prepared for a long drought like the one that started in Spring Training. Rememeber...we were the LAST team in either league to hit a HR this Spring!

I'm more concerned about what the Angels did to the already existing shortage of chicken wings in the USA!!!:hungry:

Claim Jumpers could go out of business with those Angels/Rangers game this season.:D

Texas' pitching staff is going to make restaraunt employees mighty nervous.:D

Since I relocated back to Arizona, I watch quite a few Spring Training games.

The Angels can be excused since they are basically using AAA pitchers, nearly all of the regular staff is injured.
The Mariners have shown some life in Spring Training, but their bullpen is a mess and still don't trust the Offense once it leaves the warm environs of Arizona to the cold/heavy air of Seattle.
The A's dumped most of it roster at the trading deadline last season, and other than Holliday don't think the other off season signing are that great.
The Rangers basically play "Arena Baseball" with great hitting and no pitching, but they did finish above .500 last season. If they are patient they can pluck a pitcher or two when clubs start to dump salary.

AL WEST PREDICTION:
1. Angels(92-70)
2. Rangers(80-82)
3. Athletics(76-86)
4. Mariners(75-87)

Thanks!!!

It's a long story, but can't complain for the end result.....worst places to end up than Arizona. :)

Ditto Sabres....can't wait for Pac-10 football....might have to buy tix to the Sun Devils.

The team is in serious need of pitching. It's been that way since Ryan and Tanana. Moseley sucks. Saunders isn't really any better. I went to Saunders and Moseley 1st starts in their career. Back-to-back nights. I'll never forget the fans in front of me saying who everytime Moseley's name was mentioned. He's just plain awful. His fastball is Phil Niekro knuckleball of 1984. I thought that was the slowest picch I ever saw in the majors until now. We might win the division because the other teams are bad. Look for another 1st round playoff loss unless we sign at least 4 good starters. Weaver is overrated. Lackey lacks after 4 or 5 starts like Finley. Santana stinks.
