CW’s ‘Flash': Ratings Gains, Kudos Buzz Drives Net’s New Momentum https://tv.yahoo.com/news/cw-flash-ratings-gains-kudos-buzz-drives-net-202551865.html
The lightning strike that turned Barry Allen into the Flash has rubbed off on the CW.The network that had endured a long slump comes to the Television Critics Assn. on Sunday with newfound sizzle and respect. The CW has ratings growth to tout — thank you “Flash” and “Arrow” — and traction in the prestige-TV arena with the plucky “Jane the Virgin.”
“It’s been a long process,” said CW prexy Mark Pedowitz. “We’ve had a strategy and we’ve stuck to that strategy.”The signs of a turnaround are coming none too soon for the broadcast network that will mark its 10th anniversary next year. The CW faced the possibility of affiliate defections had the ratings slide continued and its programming remained narrowly tailored for a young female audience.

The Flash Confirms the Identity of Reverse Flash https://tv.yahoo.com/news/flash-confirms-identity-reverse-flash-090100840.html
We all suspected it after The Flash's fall finale, but now it's official: Tom Cavanagh, who plays Dr. Harrison Wells, has confirmed that he will be pulling double-duty on the series as the villain known as Reverse Flash."[Wells] is the man in the yellow suit," Cavanagh said during a panel at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, in reference to the comic book villain who killed the Flash's mother. And since Wells has the suit, exhibited Reverse Flash's vocal vibration powers, and is in posession of a faster-than-light tachyon device, all signs point to a time-traveling version of the character. But is he the only one?Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg hinted that another person may be involved in the Reverse Flash mythology—namely Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett). Fans have speculated that Eddie (whose name resembles Eobard Thawne, one of the Reverse Flash's aliases in the comics on which the series is based) will become the Reverse Flash. "His name is not an accident," Kreisberg said. "Eddie's connection to the Reverse Flash lore is going to pay off big time in the back half of the year."Producers also addressed the idea of another spin-off set within the Flash/Arrow universe, possibly featuring the Atom (Brandon Routh). "We're in very early talks on a very general idea that we're... not allowed to say anything about yet," executive producer Greg Berlanti teased.Earlier in the day, CW president Mark Pedowitz told critics that, while nothing is currently in the works, he's open to additional Flash and Arrow spin-offs "as long as there's no audience fatigue."Meanwhile, Arrow star Stephen Amell offered fans little reassurance with regard to whether Oliver survived that fall in the show's fall finale. "We had a very full discussion about the third season back in late June or early July," Amell said. "They said, 'The first arc of our season will commence with Sara's death and will end with Oliver facing Ra's al Ghul and losing.'"Oliver's (temporary?) absence will shift the spotlight to other characters—something Amell said he welcomes. "I personally love when there is adversity for the protagonist and when we give other characters on the show an opportunity to ... come more into leading roles," he explained.Enter Black Canary (Katie Cassidy), who said she's "excited and thrilled" about her character's arc. "I've been waiting for this to happen," Cassidy said. "Season 2, she definitely hit rock bottom and was able to come out on top. ... After losing her sister, she goes from avenging her sister to honoring her sister to becoming her sister. It's been amazing."Are you looking forward to the emergence of the Reverse Flash?

The Flash: Reverse-Flash's Identity Revealed... But is There More To It?...Plus, how time travel is introduced to the series.
Warning: Spoilers for The Flash through the midseason finale follow, along with speculation and theorizing on what's to come. The Flash midseason finale "The Man in the Yellow Suit" concluded with a significant reveal: Dr. Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) in possession of the Reverse-Flash costume - which obviously seemed to indicate he was in fact Reverse-Flash. Of course many of us felt that there must be more to the story. Sure it had been clear that Wells was up to something, what with the walking around, looking into the future, manipulating the present, and apparent ruthless disregard for human life of it all. Yet, as the biggest bad that Barry would face -- and given Eddie Thawne's (Rick Cosnett) role in the comics as Professor Zoom/Reverse-Flash -- it seemed impossible that the series would offer up as simple an answer as Wells' reveal as the villain.

The Flash and Arrow TCA Display Includes First Look at Firestorm Costume http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/01...udes-first-look-at-firestorm-costume.....Plus a better look at Heat Wave, the first image of Victor Garber on The Flash and more.
At the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour today, the CW brought an impressive costume display from Arrow and The Flash focused on the heroes and villains that will be part of a panel for both show's later today. The display was also notable because it features the first look we've seen at Robbie Amell's Firestorm costume. Also of note was the sign below the Firestorm costume, showing Victor Garber in character as Dr. Martin Stein, another of Firestorm's alter egos in the comics, and a photo of Amell in the costume. The display also gives us a better look at Dominic Purcell's Heat Wave costume (glimpsed in a recent trailer for The Flash's return) and Katie Cassidy's Black Canary costume. You can check them all out, plus many more familiar costumes from the two series, in the gallery below.

The Flash: Was the Big Reveal a Fakeout?

Firestorm's Outfit On The Flash Could Possibly Use A Little Work http://io9.com/firestorms-outfit-on-the-flash-could-possibly-use-a-lit-1679196197
So among about a billion other things revealed about the CW's burgeoning DC TV universe, the outfit for Robbie Amell's Firestorm was on display at the Television Critics Association event this weekend, and, uh... well, let's just say it was not what I was expecting.Mainly because it appears to be a hoodie with some sh*t glued on the front.Given that Arrow, the Flash and the Atom's costumes all look pretty good, I fully admit I was expecting something a bit more... impressive for Firestorm, who recently debuted on The Flash. I mean, this doesn't even look like a special hoodie. The man can basically set himself on fire; does this thing have some kind of flame retardant powers? And what's with the circle-and-dots doohickey? I know it's a nod to Firestorm's comics costume, but it's over the zipper. Is it part of the material? Does it detach in some way? And if it does, then what the hell is it there for at all?Look, I know this is a weird thing to quibble about when discussing a character who can engulf himself in flames, but that's actually a pretty normal thing in the DC universe. But as far as I know, zippers work the same way in the DC universe as they do here. So yeah, only one of these two things is challenging my sense of disbelief.

'The Flash' Season 1, Episode 10 Update: One Reverse Flash Revealed, Captain Cold Returns With New Partner (Spoilers) http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/5789...spoilers-captain-cold-andrew.htm#.VLaKpXu8tEK
"The Flash" Season 1, Episode 10, titled "Revenge of the Rogues," airs Tuesday, Jan. 20, on The CW. Big villain Captain Cold is returning with a new partner. Meanwhile, one of the actors has set the record straight to media that he is Reverse Flash. There is no new episode this week, but the waiting time is now down to a couple of days."The Flash" fall finale (The Flash 1x09, titled "The Man in the Yellow Suit") sparked several questions among the viewers. One of the questions - which has been asked in TV forum sites since its pilot aired - was centered on Dr Harrison Wells, portrayed by Tom Cavanagh. Is Dr Wells really the Reverse Flash?"Yes, I am Reverse-Flash," IGN.com quoted the actor as saying. Still, the overall discussion about "The Flash" during the recent TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour does not confirm that it was Wells who killed Barry's mother. It remains possible that a different Reverse Flash gave Wells a beating in "The Flash" Season 1, Episode 9. (Some fans are speculating that it was also Wells from another timeline.)In "The Flash" Season 1, Episode 10, Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) faces Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) again. The villain is introducing another "rogue."
"The biggest thing [in The Flash Season 1, Episode 10 is the team-up of] Captain Cold and Heat Wave. We have a 'Prison Break' reunion with Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller," show boss Andrew Kreisberg recently told the Hollywood Reporter."Captain Cold and his hotheaded partner Heat Wave plot to steal a multi-million dollar painting and try to lure the Flash into a battle of fire and ice by kidnapping someone close to him," reads the episode synopsis of "The Flash" Season 1, Episode 10 on TV.com."The Flash" airs Tuesdays on The CW. It has recently been renewed for a second season.

'The Flash' Casts 'Dexter' Alum as Villain https://www.yahoo.com/movies/s/flash-casts-dexter-alum-villain-050046718.html
Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) will have plenty of bad guys to contend with when The Flash returns next week. The CW's The Flash has cast Dexter alum Devon Graye in a villain role, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. He'll play Axel Walker, a copycat version of The Trickster (Mark Hamill) in episode 17 this season. When the copycat Trickster begins to wreak havoc around Central City, Barry and Det. West (Jesse L. Martin) must seek out the original Trickster James Jesse (Hamill) to put a stop to it.Graye is best known for playing the teenage version of Dexter Morgan on Showtime's Dexter. Hamill also played The Trickster in the short-lived CBS The Flash series that aired in the '90s.The Flash was recently renewed for a second season, and has a whole slew of bad guys lined up to challenge Barry, including Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell) and Pied Piper (Andy Mientus). The Flash returns from its winter hiatus on Jan. 20 at 8 p.m. Check out a new, extended look at the return:

Prison Break Stars on Reuniting to Crush The Flash: 'It's Like Ghostbusters' https://tv.yahoo.com/news/prison-break-stars-reuniting-crush-235858047.html
It’s a cold and rainy mid-October night on the streets of Vancouver, Canada, and TVLine is on hand to watch The Flash face off against two worthy opponents: Prison Break‘s Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows!Well, sort of.On next Tuesday’s episode of the hit CW series (airing at 8/7c), Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell team up as the Rogue villains Captain Cold and Heat Wave. It’s a Prison Break reunion that has been in the works since Miller filmed his first episode of the comic book show, during which he was approached by executive producer/DC Comics CCO Geoff Johns with a character description of Heat Wave.Asked who he would like to play his partner-in-crime, “The first and only name that emerged was [former Prison Break co-star] Dominic Purcell,” Miller says while taking a break from filming the hour, titled ‘Revenge of the Rogues.’ “Never in a million years did I think that they would be able to pull that together, but I’m so excited that they did.”Purcell recalls getting a phone call from his agent that he had been offered a role on The Flash, followed by some coaxing from his former costar. “[Wentworth] actually sent me an email saying, ‘Come on board, it’ll be fun!’ And I said, ‘Absolutely!’” the actor shares. “Wentworth’s a very dear friend of mine, a very close friend, so it’s always a pleasure.”The casting coup made for a “happy” reunion between the former “brothers,” who’ve only been able to stay in contact via email since Prison Break ended in 2009 thanks to conflicting schedules and geography, Miller explains. But despite how much time had passed since the actors last saw each other, they were able to pick up right where they left off when they met up again in Vancouver.

Having gone on a break for a few weeks as the holidays hit, The Flash returns this Tuesday for the second half of its first season – and on the heels of the big news that the show got an early renewal for Season 2.The same day the renewal was announced, I sat down with The Flash himself, Grant Gustin, to discuss what’s to come when the show returns, including how Barry Allen is dealing with the Reverse-Flash and new threats like Heat Wave and Peek-A-Boo. Plus, what does he think about the potential for The Flash to meet Supergirl, should CBS and CW allow crossovers?

A big change is coming to The Flash.Tuesday's episode will feature a massive brawl revealing to the world that The Flash is real. Barry (Grant Gustin) squares off against Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and Heatwave (Dominic Purcell) in what executive producer Andrew Kreisberg describe as a fight worthy of Superman."The Flash does this knockdown, drag out Superman II fight in the streets with the rogues, and everyone sees The Flash," Kreisberg tells The Hollywood Reporter. "It's no longer an urban myth. He can't be dismissed. The world starts to change and is starting to have to accept that there are these crazy things out there. That will have repercussions going back into Starling City as the world starts to change."

Who Are the Men in the Yellow Suits on CW's The Flash https://games.yahoo.com/news/men-yellow-suits-cws-flash-230100426.html
The winter break is almost over for CW's The Flash, with a new episode appearing January 20th at 8/7C. The end of the mid-season finale left fans wondering if what we saw was truly the Man in the Yellow Suit. This is Barry's toughest opponent yet and one he won't be able to beat without some real strategy and training. Who is the Man in the Yellow Suit? The man Flash fans know as Reverse Flash.Warning: There are some spoilers from the mid-season finale, from back in early December.

'The Flash' Stars Tease Major Time-Travel Storyline https://www.yahoo.com/movies/s/flash-stars-tease-major-time-travel-storyline-020001586.html
[Warning: spoilers ahead for Tuesday's episode of The Flash, "Revenge of the Rogues."]Is CW's The Flash poised for a major blast from the past — or maybe a jaunt to the future?Grant Gustin says the CW show will explore the time-travel aspect of characters this season, and it has the potential to change the show itself. In Tuesday's episode, The Flash (Gustin) foiled his first supervillain team-up, defeating Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and Heatwave (Dominic Purcell). But the major battle could be small compared with what's to come.

‘The Flash’ Spoilers: Time Travel, Barry And Iris’ Relationship, And Felicity And Ray Palmer Visiting http://www.inquisitr.com/1779386/th...dness-felicity-ray-visit/#zxooiIbXzK7hJZ7H.99
If you’re a fan of The Flash, there is so much coming up in the rest of the show’s first season (and beyond, since it’s already been renewed for a second season). There’s time travel, there’s some awkwardness for Barry and Iris following his confession, and there’s a visit from a couple of Arrow people, all before this season ends.First of all, there have been enough clues that time travel could play a role in upcoming episodes of The Flash that it’s no surprise Grant Gustin told the Hollywood Reporter that that is happening in some way.

Gorilla Grodd is Coming to CW's The Flash https://games.yahoo.com/news/gorilla-grodd-coming-cws-flash-200500942.html Grodd Is Finally Coming To The Flash http://www.cinemablend.com/television/Grodd-Finally-Coming-Flash-69669.html
On CW's The Flash, fans have seen quite a few of Barry Allen's most infamous rogues. From Captain Cold, to Heat Wave, to Reverse Flash, and this week, they'll see Pied Piper. However, there's one Flash villain people didn't think they'd see on television series any time soon, and that's Gorilla Grodd.Christmas has come early as Flash executive producer Andrew Kreisberg tweeted recently that some visual effects for Grodd have been put together by Armen V. Kevorkian. Here's the tweet that reveals all. This is pretty awesome, since you can't really have a man in an ape suit running around the show and effects like the ones from Rise of the Planet of the Apes probably cost and arm and a leg. Also, having an actual gorilla act on the show would be near impossible.Technically, Grodd was seen earlier, at the end of the episode entitled, "Plastique." However, Wells said he had bigger plans for Grodd and it looks like said plans may be making their way to season two. There's no confirmation of that, but Grodd is so much more than a one and done villain. He's a character on par with Reverse Flash who deserves a long form story. What do you think about Grodd on the show?

'The Flash' Boss Reveals Secrets to the Next 'Arrow' Crossover! https://tv.yahoo.com/news/flash-boss-reveals-secrets-next-001500620.html
If you haven’t heard already, another Arrow-The Flash crossover is headed our way!In episode 18 of The Flash, appropriately titled “All-Star Team-Up,” Arrow’s Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) and Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) will pay a visit to Central City when Ray – in the throes of his ATOM project – needs help with his suit from the science and tech-minded folks of S.T.A.R. Labs.Helpfully, their visit also comes at a time when Barry (Grant Gustin) is having an internal crisis.“It happens to come at a particularly bad moment for Barry, but that’s partially why we did it. The first episode with Felicity in episode four, she really came along in a time when her experience in being a part of a crime-fighting team definitely helped Barry overcome what he was facing that week,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told a handful of reporters Monday. “Similarly when she comes [back], he’s having a crisis of conscience that in some ways only someone like she can help him through.”
