Sprint offers 30-day guarantee that you'll love the network

http://www.androidcentral.com/sprint-offers-30-day-guarantee-love-the-network

Sprint has announced a new 30-day satisfaction guarantee. The company is so sure you'll love the U.S. carrier's network that it will refund you the cost of the smartphone (once returned) and service if you're not completely satisfied. Available for a limited time only, this guarantee can be applied to new customer accounts, as well as eligible businesses who activate a line.

But fear not if you're already a customer as the guarantee will be tied to any new lines you add. It's an interesting way to lure new customers, but if you're looking to make a switch you may want to check out Sprint to see if you'll be happy with its network. As an added bonus, Sprint will offer up to $650 to cover the cost of switching for a competitor network.

Amazon Prime now available to Sprint customers for $11 a month

If you wanted to try out Amazon Prime but don't have the $99 on hands for its normal annual fee, you might want to switch over to Sprint. The carrier has announced that new or current customers have the option to access Amazon Prime as an option on their bills for $10.99 a month.

This is the first time that Amazon Prime has been available on a month-to-month basis. Sprint says:

"Amazon Prime is another example of the innovative options that Sprint delivers every day to its customers," said Marcelo Claure, Sprint CEO. "With this monthly add-on, Sprint customers will have great flexibility and will have the opportunity to easily access Amazon's full entertainment package on America's fastest LTE network."

If Sprint customers stick with their Amazon Prime option for 12 months, they will pay more than the regular user of the service as the yearly cost will be about $132. On the other hand, Sprint customers could also check it out for a few months to access Amazon Prime Video's exclusive shows like Transparent and The Man in the High Castle and then remove the option from their bill and not have to pay the $99 annual fee.

Sprint says it will fix connectivity issues for its iPhone users who updated to iOS 9.3 (UPDATE)

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Spri...e-users-who-updated-to-iOS-9.3-UPDATE_id79825

UPDATE: Sprint reached out to us today to tell us that they have resolved the issue. All iPhones connected to the carrier's LTE network are now up and running as they should be.

Some Sprint subscribers sporting an Apple iPhone found themselves with a connectivity issue following the update to iOS 9.3. The problem is apparently preventing Sprint branded iPhones from connecting to certain Sprint LTE bands. Some used Twitter to tweet out their predicament. Others posted on Reddit that they have been stuck with a 3G connection since the update.

This seems like a carrier issue unlike another recent problem that started with the iOS 9.3 update. That problem caused several apps like Safari, Messages, Mail and Notes to freeze, hang or crash when a link was pressed while inside the app. Apple started sending out an update today to iOS 9.3.1 which should resolve the issue.

As for the connectivity issue affecting Sprint users, this is a problem that the carrier will have to fix. In a free text message to its iPhone users, Sprint wrote, "Your iPhone may be having data connection issues w/ the recent software update. We're working quickly to fix. We apologize for the inconvenience."

Several Sprint customers have tried resetting their phone, which failed to solve the issue. One even swapped to a new device without solving the problem. We'd imagine that this is a high priority issue for Sprint. The mobile operator is currently running a promotion that gives new subscribers a 30-day money back guarantee. This is obviously bad timing for the nation's fourth largest carrier.

Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow rolls out to Samsung Galaxy S5 on Sprint

http://www.neowin.net/news/android-601-marshmallow-rolls-out-to-samsung-galaxy-s5-on-sprint

couple of weeks ago, Sprint began the rollout of its Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+. Now, the carrier is pushing out the update to the older Galaxy S5, which originally shipped with Android 4.4 KitKat, and was later upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The latest update is based on the newest general release of the OS, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Weighing in at just under 892MB, it bumps the software version up to G900PVPU3CPCA.

Along with all the regular improvements offered by Google's Marshmallow update, Samsung has made its own additions, including its love-it-or-hate-it TouchWiz interface. According to the release notes, the update heading to the S5 also includes the latest security updates from Google and Samsung, along with unspecified bug fixes.

While the rollout is already underway, though, it won't be completed until May 19 - so if you're looking forward to a taste of that Marshmallow goodness on your Sprint Galaxy S5, you may have to wait a few more weeks for it to actually arrive.

Sprint rolls out LTE Plus in New York City to bring you supercharged speeds

http://www.androidcentral.com/sprint-rolls-out-lte-plus-new-york-city-bring-you-supercharged-speeds

Sprint has rolled out LTE Plus in New York City. The newly added location joins 190 other markets across the U.S. who already enjoy the network's improved LTE speeds. The company has revealed that speed and capacity of more than 900 cell sites across the New York metropolitan area have been doubled.

As well as expanding its network, Sprint notes the company has invested in fine-tuning its network across New York and New Jersey. In addition to network infrastructure improvements, Sprint also included a reminder of the company's current running promotion which could save you up to 50% off the price of most plans available elsewhere, plus there's $650 on the line to cover switching fees. More details can be found below.

NEW YORK (BUSINESS WIRE), April 15, 2016 - Sprint (NYSE:S) customers across the New York Metropolitan Area are now experiencing faster, stronger, more reliable service with the availability of Sprint's LTE Plus Network. LTE Plus, now available in New York City and 190 other markets across the country, takes advantage of Sprint's rich triband spectrum portfolio and uses some of the world's most advanced technologies in wireless.

Since the beginning of the year, Sprint doubled the speed and capacity of more than 900 2.5GHz cell sites across the New York Metropolitan Area with the deployment of two-channel carrier aggregation. Carrier aggregation, a feature of LTE Plus, creates a wider lane that allows more network traffic to travel at higher rates, enabling Sprint to provide customers with even faster data speeds.

With Sprint LTE Plus, New Yorkers and customers throughout the five boroughs will experience faster speeds than before while surfing the Web at Chelsea Piers, sending panoramic city views from the One World Trade Center observation deck, or live streaming video from a concert at the Barclays Center. In fact, according to Sprint's analysis of Nielsen Mobile Performance data, Sprint now delivers the fastest LTE download speeds in New York.

"There's no better proving ground for our network than New York," said Günther Ottendorfer, Sprint Chief Operating Officer, Technology. "In the past few months we made tremendous improvements across the entire metropolitan area, and we're committed to providing The City That Never Sleeps with an exceptional wireless experience."

Within the past six months, Sprint has added or upgraded service at several popular locations such as Rockefeller Center, the 9/11 Memorial, Jacob Javits Center, JFK International Airport, and The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. Sprint continues to lead with more stations on air to-date than any other carrier. Sprint is contracted to complete all seven phases of 279 underground stations in the New York City subway project. Sprint will be deploying 4G LTE to all underground stations and service will be ready for customers in 2017.

In addition to improving service in key venues, Sprint has relentlessly focused on expanding and fine-tuning the network across New York and New Jersey. Network performance has continued to improve with the addition of new cell sites, increased coverage and capacity, and systematic optimization of each cell site to maximize LTE Plus performance. Key LTE Plus benefits include:

  • Faster service with double the network capacity and speed, and peak speeds in excess of 100Mbps on capable devices
  • Stronger service with smart antenna technology that extends the cell signal further at 2.5GHz
  • More reliable service utilizing three bands of spectrum – 1.9GHz for broad coverage, 800MHz for better indoor service, and 2.5GHz for even faster data speeds
"Our 2.5GHz spectrum excels at moving high volumes of data at very fast speeds. And our deep 2.5GHz holdings give us more capacity than any other carrier in the U.S.," said Dr. John Saw, Sprint CTO. "This is a tremendous advantage, allowing us to keep adding the capacity and speed needed to serve New Yorker's demand for data now and well into the future."

New York, Switch to Sprint and Save 50%
In addition to offering the super-fast LTE Plus Network in New York, consumers switching to Sprint can take advantage of the biggest wireless offer in U.S. history – 50 percent off the price of most Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile rate plans. Customers who switch get 50 percent off most current rate plan prices from their current carrier. And, Sprint will pay switching fees up to $650 per line. Sprint also offers a 30-day satisfaction guarantee – the industry's best consumer satisfaction guarantee. If customers aren't completely satisfied within 30 days, Sprint will refund the cost of the device and service charges.

Now to dismiss the State lawsuits.

Blocking the merger will just keep ATT and Verizon ruling the roost. Sprint alone is going under. SoftBank is prevented from throwing good money after bad due to an agreement their banks forced upon them. So WHEN Sprint goes under (barring the merger), ATT and Verizon can outbid T-Mobile for frequencies and other assets, keeping them down and not so much competition.

The Dish bit I believe is a canard. I think Dish plans to push big time for IoT, especially for automobiles and other mobile devices.

bye bye Sprint, the judge has thrown out the lawsuit by several States and given final approval to the buyout by T-Mobile.
