The real piracy

People pay a license fee to use those products. They don't own the product. It has been this way for decades.

Oh just wait, it will get much worse. Handful of companies own everything. They will do what ever they want and nothing will be done about it.
Now the FCC wants to lift any restriction on local TV station ownership....Just imagine what carrier fees will be in a few years?

The industries (TV, Movie and Music) are basically putting themselves out of business. I don't see why they don't understand that.

Soon we will just sign our paychecks over to Netflix.

It's not just those industries. Verizon is doing it (see Juan's posts elsewhere), Wendy's is doing it, Pizza Hut. Instead of making moves to be profitable again, they just milk the cow until it's dead then turn out the lights.

Is there a name for this kind of corporate cannibalism (other than corporate cannibalism?)

Hey nice to see that I am not the only one who thinks Wendy's has gone WAY down hill. :D
Haven't eaten at Wendys since 2005 hurricane Rita came in and all the workers were replaced with non English speaking workers. They couldn't understand us and we definitely couldn't understand them. So we moved on to other places where there wasn't a communication problem.

They have my favorite nuggets (spicy) but fries haven't been very good since the pivot from transfats by all the chains. 15? or so years ago.

What I really miss is KFC popcorn chicken. Used to be able to get that sauced at my local location in their buffalo sauce and they'd give it to me in their black salad bowl. Been gone about as long and all the versions since have been more nugget-like.

I'm down like 30lbs this year after switching from Oz to Mounjaro, I'm probably a lot better off that all my favorite fried food isn't as readily available.

Worth it for them in the short term for power / money (and to a lesser extent, survival). Spin out and write off failures, re-merge and keep everything rolling until the music stops.

No kidding - Wendy's has gotten so expensive. Wendy's was my go-to when I was in college in the early 2000's. I could walk down the street from campus and the Wendy's was right there. The spicy chicken sandwich, fries, and a frosty and a small side of chilli for 99 cents - if I remmber correctly, the cost of everything was less than $8.00.

Peacock jacking their rates even higher!
