The TITANIUM™ Package

Yes, Earl... up to 10 receivers, with VIP installation and Friends & Family VIP service plan.

If cable companies and even Verizon FIOS and DirecTV were smart this is what I'd suggest they do. Offer all customers the following below.

Offer all normal TV channels including international channels...this includes all premium channels, local channels if available and all HD channels.

Also offer all sports packages and also offer all customers just 4 HD DVR boxes total included in the price.

Now I would not offer unlimited PPV viewing but I would consider giving a limit of say 10 free PPV movies each month and add software to allow the box to tell the customers how many free views they have left each month. Even if they gave 10 PPV movies away free each month I still wouldn't give free PPV events away at all such as boxing and such.

I would price this package at 3,000 even each year but it must be paid in full upfront with no committment required by the customer as they paid upfront for one years service. After that year they can pay it again or they can leave and a tech would come by and pick the boxes up and that would be it. Again I see no reason to not offer many different levels and they can market this very well without a doubt. Also the service also comes with free install, free repairs by high quality techs only and fast quick USA english speaking customer service agents and they should offer sameday service even on weekends and holidays for customer downtime issues.

If I could get all the above with DirecTV even without the PPV at the price I said I would bite that sucker so fast they won't know what hit them. I know they are looking at stealing high end customers and I think this is a great idea but they would be very stupid to not thinking about their middle customers with something like this because I don't care what company you are you can make money and much more of it per customers with 3 grand in the bank minus the cost of programming and hardware. That is double and some compared to what they get with their most highest priced packages.

If Verizon could get the sports packages like I think they will (even without Sunday Ticket) I would go with them in a heartbeat. I can only hope that DirecTV will wake up and use their exclusive to their advantage for the middleground customers which now and into the future will be the customers that can make or break them as a company. Yes very highend customers provide extreme profits but only those customers cannot keep a company alive with the costs DirecTV has to keep services going and keep their offerings updated.

Sorry! Not me! Just not worth it! I can think of a million things better to do with my money! IMHO I think they sould have the Titanium package more reasonable for people. I mean if it involved the following I would get it:

All Locals
All channels including International and Spanish
All HD channels
All Porn channels
Access to all Sports channels (aka no blackouts)

Price: $175 per month!!

I would definately commit to it.

if DBS was in control of blackouts, you could bet your left n** that they would have it all access for a fee; but they don't.

Who in the name of God would need that many channels? Don't these people have a life? There is much more to life than having access to every conceivable TV channel.

So really, if you purchased this package, what would you really want it for?

The Porn
The PPV
The Channels.

If they offered a 30 day no hassle trial I might try it just to tick them off with no intention of signing up. I hate DirecTV with a passion right now for reasons I cannot say but I do. But on the other hand I would rather not deal with the hassle. I'm sure I would qualify for it as I have perfect credit with way way more than the price in the bank so if I don't quality who the heck would. Now for all I know this would be the company to send this to my credit saying I cancelled. I've heard that people who try free trails on some services and products do get small docks on thier credit reports but that is what I've heard and I don't believe it either but it wouldn't suprise me is all I'm saying.

I don't see why they would need a credit check if you simply paid them in advance.

I can actually see every deadbeat and their brother signing up for this if it was paid monthly, watch it for 2 months and not pay the bill!

Data collection of this nature has other uses than the obvious, they also use this data to compile a monetary aggregate of its customer base, this can be used for targeting services, offers, perhaps even used to rate the customer quality (the hearts system, preferred status, etc), and classify them accordingly, some companies will also sell (or trade) the information to other companies/services.

Basically just because someone pays them in advance does not mean they can always do so, a credit report will give them an idea if that person can continue paying in the future, thus can can get a prediction of possible income from a certain segment and/or offer that customer certain deals to entice them to spend more, if the person has aweful credit despite paying in advance, they may not want to waste resources trying to push certain services onto someone who may be gone next year, since they do/did have a high churn rate, they may be using this data to try and apply credit-based statistics to the issue to try and mitigate churn rate, i.e. someone who pays in advance and who has a credit score of 500, may not be in a position to pay next year, while someone with a 780 rating has a higher chance of doing so.

Oh my freaking God. When I started reading this thread I thought it was a joke. But the D* site does have something about it. You need to input personal information, they probably run another credit check on you to make sure you're not a deadbeat and can afford it.

Imagine paying 10K a year and getting HD Lite. For that money I would think a Saturday night B.J. would also come with the package.

For 10K a year it must be sex anytime you want it and that means the package comes with a hooker who stays in your home all of the time. If your married it will come with a male and female hooker to please the family and if you have a teenager 12 and older they will provide a hot hot younger hooker for him/her. That would be worth 10 grand but without the hookers this package ain't worth the 1 dollar bills I wipe my butt with...lol.

Also the slogan somebody up their loves you also does fix as with this package a hot hooker will be on top of you so somebody "up" their does love you.

I couldn't agree more, but If I came to them with $7500 then they should be able to turn on the package with no credit check.

Now Free equipment is one thing, I agree on that 100% on a credit check to get free equipment

Don't get me wrong, I am by no means defending (or offending) their practices, but the data collected is often worth more than the monies obtained directly, as long as they can get away with this data collection, they will take advantage of it.

That being said, the part I wonder about, is that when someone gets so many credit checks within a certain period, it lowers a persons score, (I do IT work for mortgage companies and know this as fact, which is why the credit services we use cache reports we make through our loan origination software), so this practice may adversely affect the credit scores of those who may have had too many checks too close together.
