There are the obvious flaming and baiting posts that a thread like this would be perfect for, but most incidents start as normal disagreements and degrade from there....

I think that was particularly true for salsadancer and me, but thanks to him becoming the level-headed one we've pretty much stopped that.
We all know what kind of posts I'm talking about. It's like pornography. Very hard to write a definition for it...but you know it when you see it.
As I said, give it a chance. It's worth a try to clean up the other general threads.

Maybe we need something like what I've seen on other sports forums I've visited:
For each sport, two sticky threads, an "inside the lines" game discussion thread, and an "outside the lines" everything else thread.....

I've been here since the year Sat Guys started, and the Sports forum has never been bad. We've had bad mouthing about teams since the start and it's never been to the determent of the forum. If anything it stimulates interest.
I am, that's why I've offered my constructive sudjestions, which I beleive were met with "stupid idea", granted with a smiley.
I am giving my feedback, and will continue to do so.
If we want a trash talking portion, then I think it's better suited to a sub-forum instead of a single thread. That way the "ACC sucks", "Big 10 can't count", etc... posts can be kept seperate.
As for weeding out criticism posts from general topics, it's won't work as by the very nature of a sports match, there is a winner and a loser.
This site's California representation has gone from great to bad now that KCK's gone.
Your L.A. teams aren't so mighty- Dodgers and Angels go down, Kings haven't done anything in years, and the Clippers... well, they are a mess.
It's pretty easy. My teams are great, and yours suck. Unless my teams are your teams too.
That should cover it.
