i currently have dish with americas 250, hd gold/plat, vip622

im thinking of switching to to c choice xtra hd dvr

i heavily use dvr, i like skipping commercials

my questions are
how is the reciever/dvr unit?

is there a diff in programming? can i see a side by side comparison someplace?

Direc for sports-Dish for everything else.

I have both. Programming wise, Direc is heavy on sports. Better sports progamming. Especialy in HD.

Direct tvs dvr, in my opinnion is fair at best. If you come from dish to direc you will not be happy with their dvrs.

Direcs dvrs are very clunky and slow.

Nothing on the market is as good as dish HD dvr. Period.

If your into sports make the move.

I have direc soley for my Ny Jets and Ny Rangers. Worth every penny.

However, my main unit has always been dish. DVRs are smooth and fast.

In short dont make a move unless your a sports enthusiast.

I switched a couple of weeks ago and love DirecTV. I wished I would have done it earlier. The DirecTV DVR is slower, but the software, in my opinion is better. There are more search options, better ondemand options, and better interactivity. Plus the future of MRV is pretty awesome with DirecTV.

I am a sports fan, and that combined with the fact D* had my locals in HD and E* did not was the clincher for me.
