Another edition of Thoughts to Ponder. Lets get to it.

1) Whats everyone doing for Thanksgiving? Anybody traveling anywhere special?

2) Do you think that ESPN will lose some bowl games to FX/NBC Sports etc. in the coming years? Ive said on here NBC Sports will be a major player in the coming years.

3) When the MLB packages coming up in a while, could NBC get baseball back? CBS? God knows, NBC needs something else because there primetime programming isnt doing that good.

4) Did anyone watch the Milwaukee Brewers special today on MLB Network? It was about the 82 Brewers and it was really good.

5) Im sure you'll agree but its so hard to find a job these days. Im trying to find one especially for the holidays but nothing. It really makes me mad:mad:

6) Im actually trying to explore my creative writing and Im starting a blog about it. It could be about sports/tv/entertainment etc. If you guys want I'll post the link on here (if thats ok) so you can check it out and see what you think.

7) So Reyes is offered 90 million by the Marlins and biggest offseason move the Mets have maid have been to move the fences in at CitiField.

8) The McRib is gone for now from McDonalds. :( Those were some good times.

9) With the NBA lockout still going on, is the season officially over?

10) I cant believe it but the Giants may win the NFC East. The Dream Team has turned into a nightmare, the Redskins are putrid and have a lousy quarterback(s). That leaves the Cowboys and the Giants.

11) I have been very critical of NFL Network in the past but I do give them a tip of the hat. Ive watched "A Football Life" and they have been very good. I watched Ed Sabol, Al Davis, Mike Ditka and Tom Landry, all very good. I thought at first that it was just something about Bill Belicheck but they have been good which leads me too...

12) I do, however, think NFL Network needs more programming. Why they dont show classic games is beyond me? I know that Im beating a dead horse with this but Im 29 yrs. old and I hardly remember when the Giants won Super Bowl 21. I dont think thats right. I mean how many times can you watch Total Access?

13)Do you guys favor classic tv or modern tv? What I mean is do you like shows like Father Knows Best, I Love Lucy, Dick Van Dyke, Happy Days etc. or more modern shows like Modern Family, NCIS, Two and a half Men etc.?

14)I would think the NFL would eventually get a team back in Los Angeles. They can play at the LA Coliseum for now.

15)It seems like even though the NFL is taking protective messures with helmet to helmet situations, what about when teams had astro turf? Ive heard nobody liked it, it was hard as hell and people got injured.

16) Growing up with the NFL, did any of you have a favorite announcer or broadcast team? For me, it was Summerall and Madden.

17) Did you guys see the NFL Top 10 on football voices? Number 1 was John Facenda and 2 was Summerall and Madden. Cosell, Gifford and the guy who does the Raiders radio (sorry Salsa, dont know who he is), Myron Pope and a couple of others.

1. Thank god my relatives arent doing anything....going to the lake house, eat at the casino then hit the "World Famous" Aitkin, MN fishhouse parade :)
2. minor bowl games...yes. Not the major ones
3. probably not.
4. its on the hard drive...havent seen it yet
5. I'll agree. Unemployed pretty much for 2 1/2 years now (sans a 2 month job)
8. yay  wont eat one so it doesnt bother me
9. NBA can go away as far as I'm concerneed. Just a bunch of thugs
12. MLB Net is now showing classic games usually in their entirity. Sunday is the Royals/Yanks ALCS game (when Chambliss hit the HR and all hell broke loose). I wish they'd show some more Expos games (like the one last year on kinescope)
13. I like the 80's shows.
14. Yep...they're now called the Vikings
15. Have your buddy throw you on a piece of carpet....thats what astroturf was. It was cheap and easy to lay down and required no maintenance. I remember when we use to go to TwinsFest at the Humpty Dome...walking on that turf hurt
16. Was there really any other? ;)
17. DIdnt see it

1) Just spending it with the immediate family

2) I'm not really sure if that matters since they have all of the BCS games

3) I'd rather see the NBC get the NBA sometime in the future

4) did not see it

5) best of luck to you, it sure is a b**** out there

6) If you share the link, I'll take a look.

7) I don't know what happened, but I thought Reyes was given an extension during the season....

8) never had one, does not look appealing

9) yes

10) not THAT surprised that the Giants are going to win it. i never buy the cowboys hype and the redskins never stood a chance anyway. i'm shocked that Philly is so bad however

11) i've never had a problem with NFL network

12) i wish they did this. espn classic was always lacking with classic nfl games too, i don't know why the NFL doesn't show any

13)I don't watch many old shows. I think all of the CBS sitcoms are trash though

14) no one wants to play at the coliseum though, and for good reason

15) i think people were more ignorant of the risks back then to be honest

16) I was much more of an NBA fan in my youth. my favorite broadcaster will always be Chick Hearn. my current favorite is Gus Johnson

17) If Gus Johnson wasn't on there, the list sucks :p

13. I like the old stuff.
I Love Lucy, Dick Van Dyke, Happy Days

That said, I also like the NCIS's and CSI NY and Miami and starting to really like Unforgettable
I need to catch up on some of them, buit seeing I'm on the computer, it's not happening quickly.

1 - I normally go to Las Vegas. Wife is making me go with her siblings to Gatlinburg, TN. Shoot me now.

2 - ESPN has something of a monopolistic power over college football.

3 - NBC would be wise to get baseball. It is clueless in primetime and might as well take October off for sports. However, it would have a September Saturday problem with Notre Dame.

9 - I truly hope so. For one thing, it makes ESPN's talking head shows watchable, as, divorced from the easy babble about the NBA, they have to talk sports. Further, reality therapy for these players will be sweet, as it was for the NHLPA.

12 - The NFLN is, IMHO, the worst of the dedicated sports league channels. Other than the games and a few things like the CFL, its just filler.

14 - The NFL is using LA. As long as it is there, every team can threten to move unless it gets a new stadium/deal/whatever. Eventually when every team is taken care of (Oakland, SF, SD, Minnesota, at least) it will go to LA, but it will have a stadium at least under construction before it goes in.

15 - The original astro turf was "fuzzy concrete". Different era.

17 - Its Myron Cope. Part of the sad Steelerscult.

1) Whats everyone doing for Thanksgiving? Anybody traveling anywhere special?

Heading over to Ma' and Pa's house in the suburbs. Have some Yinzer family coming in from Pittsburgh (yuck) as well. They all remind me of Eddie from Christmas Vacation.

5) Im sure you'll agree but its so hard to find a job these days. Im trying to find one especially for the holidays but nothing. It really makes me mad:mad:

I guess it's a matter of perspective, but where I'm at, I see Help Wanted signs everywhere. The place I work for is the busiest we've been in over a decade. It's crazy really.

8) The McRib is gone for now from McDonalds. :( Those were some good times.

Gross. Do you know what that shizz is made of? Me neither. But it can't be good for you.

9) With the NBA lockout still going on, is the season officially over?

Yes.

13)Do you guys favor classic tv or modern tv? What I mean is do you like shows like Father Knows Best, I Love Lucy, Dick Van Dyke, Happy Days etc. or more modern shows like Modern Family, NCIS, Two and a half Men etc.?

Hmm. Good question. Are we just limited to network TV? Because I barely watch network programming at all. The main channels I watch are FX, Travel, Comedy Central, NatGeo and Discovery.

Everyone goes to my brother's house, which is almost within walking distance. Should be interesting...two of my five brothers' wives are pregnant right now!

2) Do you think that ESPN will lose some bowl games to FX/NBC Sports etc. in the coming years? Ive said on here NBC Sports will be a major player in the coming years.

I think they're going to try, that's for sure. Would like to see the ESPN domination slow down at least.

3) When the MLB packages coming up in a while, could NBC get baseball back? CBS? God knows, NBC needs something else because there primetime programming isnt doing that good.

Same thing...who knows.

4) Did anyone watch the Milwaukee Brewers special today on MLB Network? It was about the 82 Brewers and it was really good.

Too many games on!

5) Im sure you'll agree but its so hard to find a job these days. Im trying to find one especially for the holidays but nothing. It really makes me mad:mad:

Seems to be getting better slowly, but it's still not easy out there. Good luck! Keep pushing...your time will come.

7) So Reyes is offered 90 million by the Marlins and biggest offseason move the Mets have maid have been to move the fences in at CitiField.

LOL the Mets will be going bare bones this year. They're going to try to make it look like they want Reyes back...but they don't. And I cannot say I blame them.

8) The McRib is gone for now from McDonalds. :( Those were some good times.

Oh my.

9) With the NBA lockout still going on, is the season officially over?

Not officially, but the players' lawsuit means it's sinking fast.

10) I cant believe it but the Giants may win the NFC East. The Dream Team has turned into a nightmare, the Redskins are putrid and have a lousy quarterback(s). That leaves the Cowboys and the Giants.

Which means that leaves the Giants.

I always thougth the NFL Network does a good job. The America's Game shows are fantastic.

Perhaps they don't have rights.

13)Do you guys favor classic tv or modern tv? What I mean is do you like shows like Father Knows Best, I Love Lucy, Dick Van Dyke, Happy Days etc. or more modern shows like Modern Family, NCIS, Two and a half Men etc.?

I like current TV. Modern Family, Big Bang Theory, Parks & Recreation, Community, Glee, The Good Wife, Walking Dead, Boardwalk Empire...it goes on and on. Not to mention shows not on at the moment...Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Justified, Treme, and Louie. And some recent goodies that will be missed...Lost, The Pacific, 30 for 30, Temple Grandin, Terriers.

14)I would think the NFL would eventually get a team back in Los Angeles. They can play at the LA Coliseum for now.

They don't miss having a Los Angeles NFL team out there. They just don't.

15)It seems like even though the NFL is taking protective messures with helmet to helmet situations, what about when teams had astro turf? Ive heard nobody liked it, it was hard as hell and people got injured.

They should go back to leather helmets...

16) Growing up with the NFL, did any of you have a favorite announcer or broadcast team? For me, it was Summerall and Madden.

LOL I liked when Dennis Miller was on Monday Night Football. I really did. For some reason he just makes me laugh all the time.

17) Did you guys see the NFL Top 10 on football voices? Number 1 was John Facenda and 2 was Summerall and Madden. Cosell, Gifford and the guy who does the Raiders radio (sorry Salsa, dont know who he is), Myron Pope and a couple of others.

Harry Kalas, of course, and the new guy on NFL Films who replaced Kalas is good too.

Another edition of Thoughts to Ponder. Lets get to it.

1) Whats everyone doing for Thanksgiving? Anybody traveling anywhere special? Tons of family from Chicago and New York coming down...which reminds me that I have to finish painting the bathroom!

2) Do you think that ESPN will lose some bowl games to FX/NBC Sports etc. in the coming years? Ive said on here NBC Sports will be a major player in the coming years. It would be nice to have some to most of the big bowl games on REGULAR TV

3) When the MLB packages coming up in a while, could NBC get baseball back? CBS? God knows, NBC needs something else because there primetime programming isnt doing that good. The USE to be the IT network. They already started their push and could be re-emerging.

4) Did anyone watch the Milwaukee Brewers special today on MLB Network? It was about the 82 Brewers and it was really good. Yes I did and it was AWESOME...! I LOVED that Brewer team! Still not over McGee robbing Gorman Thomas of that HR in the 1982 World Series.

5) Im sure you'll agree but its so hard to find a job these days. Im trying to find one especially for the holidays but nothing. It really makes me mad:mad: You know it's bad when in the time that alot of companies hire EXTRA help, it's hard to find a decent job. I wish you the very best luck my friend!

6) Im actually trying to explore my creative writing and Im starting a blog about it. It could be about sports/tv/entertainment etc. If you guys want I'll post the link on here (if thats ok) so you can check it out and see what you think. Go for it!

7) So Reyes is offered 90 million by the Marlins and biggest offseason move the Mets have maid have been to move the fences in at CitiField. $90 TO START...the offer could go higher I hear... WOW!

9) With the NBA lockout still going on, is the season officially over? Yeah, I think it is. As sad as it is.:(

They have been very good and almost rival ESPN's "30 for 30" series.

This to me, is the over saturation of these networks dedicated to one sport. With baseball and the NBA, to a degree, I can see because of the length of their schedule and the fact that their are OTHER professional baseball and basketball leagues in other parts of the world. NOT to the same caliber of talent of course, but talent that could eventually play in the MLB or NBA someday. The NFL...sorry, as much as I LOVE the NFL, it is not a year round sport.

13)Do you guys favor classic tv or modern tv? What I mean is do you like shows like Father Knows Best, I Love Lucy, Dick Van Dyke, Happy Days etc. or more modern shows like Modern Family, NCIS, Two and a half Men etc.? I favor the current police dramas to the older ones. The current comedies are much better as well.

15)It seems like even though the NFL is taking protective messures with helmet to helmet situations, what about when teams had astro turf? Ive heard nobody liked it, it was hard as hell and people got injured. Nobody had the contracts then that they have now. NOW, as terrible as I think some of those rules are to protect their players...I understand TOTALLY why it is done. Gotta protect the investment.

16) Growing up with the NFL, did any of you have a favorite announcer or broadcast team? For me, it was Summerall and Madden. I LOVED Dick Enberg and Merlin Olson as well as Don Criqui and Bob Trumpy. I was talking about this the other day with a friend and he did a google search..this was cool and brought back memories:

List of NFL on NBC commentator pairings - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

When NBC had the NFL and they were the best!

17) Did you guys see the NFL Top 10 on football voices? Number 1 was John Facenda and 2 was Summerall and Madden. Cosell, Gifford and the guy who does the Raiders radio (sorry Salsa, dont know who he is), Myron Pope and a couple of others.

Bill King was the considered "the voice of the Raiders" from the mid '60s to the mid 90s. Since then, it has been Greg Papa took over the play-by-play around 1998 or something like that.

Anybody know why The brewers left the AL for the NL?

easy (wiki can be your friend). When they added Tampa and Arizona that would give each league 15 teams. Instead of inter-league (yuck!) everyday. Since Bud (Lite) owned the Brewers at the time as being commissioner he was gonna just move them. But he gave 1st option to KC (so it doesnt look like conflict of interest) and they turned it down. So he moved his team to the NL

Also, not to step on wikipedia's toes or anything, but Milwaukee was a logical choice because it had long been an NL city from it's days as the Braves.

And it looks like with the move of the Astros to the AL, everyday interleague play is upon us.

Brothers house, watch the Cowboys...

2) Do you think that ESPN will lose some bowl games to FX/NBC Sports etc. in the coming years? Ive said on here NBC Sports will be a major player in the coming years.

Hope so

3) When the MLB packages coming up in a while, could NBC get baseball back? CBS? God knows, NBC needs something else because there primetime programming isnt doing that good.

Another hope so

10) I cant believe it but the Giants may win the NFC East. The Dream Team has turned into a nightmare, the Redskins are putrid and have a lousy quarterback(s). That leaves the Cowboys and the Giants.

Like to see the Cowboys turn it around, but the Giants are playing good.

12) I do, however, think NFL Network needs more programming. Why they dont show classic games is beyond me? I'd like to see more "Nfl Replay" games during the week instead of the constant rehashing ... Inside the NFL is the only football show I watch during the week.

13)Do you guys favor classic tv or modern tv? What I mean is do you like shows like Father Knows Best, I Love Lucy, Dick Van Dyke, Happy Days etc. or more modern shows like Modern Family, NCIS, Two and a half Men etc.?

Both, I like the classic Scifi shows and Friends in HD on nick, but like the NCIS's, CSI's, Hell on Wheels and need to start at the beginnining on Sons of Anarchy...

16) Growing up with the NFL, did any of you have a favorite announcer or broadcast team? For me, it was Summerall and Madden.

Summerall and Brookshire ;) Giffords, Cosell & Dandy, I like Michaels and Collinsworth today, Buck and Aikman are just "too smart ;)"

no boneless piece of "meat" should resemble the shape of a rack of ribs with bones and all. The McRib is an engineered product made up with mystery meat and nasty bits.

You guys eat hot dogs? TRUST ME...you don't even wanna know. Doesn't get much worse.

1) Whats everyone doing for Thanksgiving? Anybody traveling anywhere special?

Running in a Thanksgiving 5k then going to have Turkey Day dinner at Boston Market, the watching full day of football starting off with the Lions! (Though later in the weekend going to have family over)

8) The McRib is gone for now from McDonalds. :( Those were some good times.

While I will never tell anyone what they can eat....I will leave it at that :)

9) With the NBA lockout still going on, is the season officially over?

Whats the NBA? :)

11) I have been very critical of NFL Network in the past but I do give them a tip of the hat. Ive watched "A Football Life" and they have been very good. Loving the A Football Life series, when they want to the NFL Network can have some great programming

13)Do you guys favor classic tv or modern tv? What I mean is do you like shows like Father Knows Best, I Love Lucy, Dick Van Dyke, Happy Days etc. or more modern shows like Modern Family, NCIS, Two and a half Men etc.?

As of late I have been watching a bit more TVLAND, miss some of the old shows!

I didnt know that people didnt like the McRib. Thats fine and I respect your opinions. It was mentioned above about hot dogs. I think sometimes you have to live a little and treat yourself once in a while. Its like if you go to the doctors and the doctors tell you what is good for you and whats not. According to them, EVERYTHING you eat isnt good for you. Whats got too much sugar, whats got too much salt, what has too much citrus, whats too fattening etc.
