WTF! Can't a guy be happy with his negotiation without being prodded into asking for even more!!!
I didn't necessarily take it that way. I saw it as a helpful suggestion in response to this:
Also, we had quite a few recordings on the H3 drive. Can I move those recordings to an EHD and then watch them on a Wally? If not, is there ANY no-fee receiver they can be watched on?
With a Hopper Duo, you would still have access to EHD recordings from the H3 with a lower DVR fee. If you are fine with losing those recordings, then the Wally is a great option, too.

They told me the Duo fee was $15
The Duo fee is $10 regular price. New customers get it for $5 per month for two years. So, I think the suggestion was to at least try to get the new customer pricing, if not getting the fee waived completely. Like I said, if you want to completely avoid the fee, I think you made a good choice with the Wally.

This afternoon I had some time to get things ready for the Friday install. I connected the open line that runs from the DPP dish to the line that fed the H3 in my living room (removing the Node in between with an F/F connector).

Just for fun, I hooked the H3 up to that line to see if anything would happen. The H3 didn't see the dish at all. I know it requires the DPH42 switch to fully function, but shouldn't it at least see the satellites? Or would this be normal behavior?

Just curious.

Anyways, the tech shouldn't have to do anything on Friday except hook up the Wally and download software. I hope. :)

Just in case anyone was wondering: the Wally carries no monthly fee if you use your own EHD and it is the only receiver on the account. Just as it has always been. I have an email from the CEO's office confirming.
Thank you for verifying this. I knew that it didn't sound right to pay $40.00 for Dvr software and add your own external hard drive and still have to pay $5.00 No Dvr fee too.
