The last time I checked, people were getting layed-off and retail businesses were closing their doors. Unless Viacom, and others, are hoping for a Federal Bailout, they need to start shutting down some of their more unpopular channels now that the ad revenue is drying up. Customers are tired of bailing-out failed businesses...and we certainly don't wish to pay even more money to fund a lot of goofy channels that can easily be consolidated into a handful of quality channels.
I believe you are correct. The marketplace may figuratively give us a la carte.
Plus the loss of unpopular and seldomly viewed channels opens up bandwidth for other services.
