It's an SD DVR...

The things I've been waiting for....

BBC America HD and the 922.

Been waiting for both since last summer. Will I have them by THIS summer?

is it a single tuner like a 211, or is it a single tuner like they call a 612 because it only outputs to one tv?
To me single-tuner means the ability to view and/or record only one live program at a time - so I assuming it would be like the 211 w/hard-drive. The 612 is dual-tuner DVR with output to only one TV output (TV1), while the 722 (DuoDVR) can output to TV1 and TV2.

A single-tuner DVR doesn't make a lot of sense...should be interesting to hear Dish Network's definition. Perhaps Scott has some "insider" information?

I wouldn't get excited about the new signle tuner DVR.

It's just a 522 in which the agile modulator in it does not work and has been rebranded a SD Solo 512 receiver.

That's what I thought, they already advertise it on the Dish website. Still has two tuners, just output for one TV, similar to 612.

They also are advertising TV Everywhere (922) and related accessories.

There is mention of new fees for the 922 here:
DISH Network - Customer Agreements

$10 account-level DVR fee, and $21 if additional receiver.

Yeah I saw that... $8 a month more to have a 922 on your account.

Its cheeper to go out and buy a Slingbox and hook it up.. and the real slingbox will give you more flexability and wont cost you extra per month just to watch your TV elsewhere.

Like Scot said, it's just a 522 with output for just one TV. Look at the picture:

UNbelievable! Here are some choice quotes from that doc:

Does this mean an EHD is in the works for this receiver, as well as "real" 522's and the 625? I find this sort of nonsense (crippling equipment and charging less for it) seriously annoying. I wonder what would happen if you remove the caps?

I hope that includes a 922 release date and pricing.

HDRoberts,

When Dish does announce the 922, judging by the new equipment pricing. The secondary receiver fee for it might be like $30 per month to discourage current customers from getting one

Edit; I posted the above as a joke, obviously I wasn't far off, $21 per month to use a 922 DISH CAN S&^K IT. I only hope this blows up in Dish's Collective faces.

John

Um, if you get one it would be the primary and not charged $21, just $10 instead of $6.

Why anyone would need more than one "TV Everywhere" receiver I do not understand. You would need 2 to be charged the $21.

As Scott pointed out, you could do better by just purchasing your own Sling unit and adding it into your setup. Now the only advantage is the new interface... I love channel logos and stealing Apple design ideas as much as anyone, but I don't think it will be worth the greenbacks...

One DVR Service Fee will apply per account with at least one DVR receiver active (excluding accounts with at least one 922 receiver active, to which a $10.00/mo. Premium DVR Service Fee will apply).
I read that as, if the 922 is the primary receiver, the $10 fee takes the place of a $6 DVR fee, so it is $4 more, but maybe I'm wrong.

Still, I was waiting to buy a slingbox for the 922. Now maybe I'll just get one.
