BBCA Goes HD With Sci-Fi Stack - 2009-06-01 06:00:00 | Multichannel News

Starting Monday night, July 20, the channel will air five consecutive nights of top-rated sci-fi drama Torchwood. They essentially comprise a season of the show, about an elite team battling with space aliens. Collectively they're called Torchwood: Children of Earth. At 8 p.m. the first night, the channel will air a behind-scenes special called Inside the Hub, followed by the first Children of Earth hour. Succeeding nights, the previous episode will air at 8 followed by the next Torchwood.

So did the BBC decide to wait and air it simultaneously in the UK and America or something?

BBC America says they are going to show it on the same days, but that statement was back in January.

"Torchwood: Children of Earth" to air this summer over consecutive nights? | AfterElton.com

but BBC America president Garth Ancier is here in Los Angeles for the Television Critics Association January tour and after he presented panels for BBC America's latest offerings, I had the chance to ask him if he had an air date for Torchwood: Children of Earth on BBCA. He didn't yet have a firm air date as BBC America is waiting for the BBC to finalize their date, but he was fairly certain that it was going to be the first part of this summer, possibly late June or early July. He also said that not only would BBC America air the five episodes on consecutive nights as they are doing across the pond, but that they would also air in th U.S. the same day as they did in the U.K. meaning American audiences will have almost no lag time in seeing the series.
The BBC America site still shows it starting on July 20th @ 9pm.

BBC itself doesn't give any dates on their site.

Torchwood: Children of Earth on BBC, July 6-10 (Keep all spoilers here)

This is the official thread to discuss Torchwood: Children of Earth as it airs on BBC during July 6-9.

All spoilers prior to it airing on BBC America should remain here.

This thread is so that those who can view on on BBC-1 (or via other methods, such as slingbox) can discuss it, without spoiling if for those viewing it later this month on BBC America.

I created a sticky thread for anyone who sees Children of Earth on BBC next week. Feel free to discuss what happens in that thread, and keep any spoilers away from the other areas, so it's not spoiled for people who can't see it prior to BBC America airing it.

Any such posts will be moved into the BBC thread.

Not the type of ending I was expecting. Captain Jack's image will be destroyed in the eyes of some fans.

It was an interesting journey. Here is hoping for some more in the future.

Okay...Russell T. must have been watching a lot of BSG as that was NOTHING like the Torchwood of season 1 or 2.

Very dark and the ending.....all i can say is damn....

That is the one thing I love about BBC TV...they will kill off everyone and anyone.
