Traditional/Streaming Live TV Providers Losses, 1st Quarter 2026 Edition

You should drop your Live TV Services, go with the ad free streaming services instead, like Discovery+ for the shows you named as a example.

Keep asking yourself, why you still have Dish ( way too expensive for what you get-reruns) and DirecTV's MyEntertainment.

You must be paying close to $200 a month for both, the shows you watch, you would be well under $50 a month with the streaming services.

Discovery+ ad free is only $9.99 a month for example.

I am quite capable of making such decisions for myself.

And as I've said before, I am watching what little remains on our DVR. And hoping Dish comes out with a reason to stick around.

Watching a movie off the Dish DVR. Commercial breaks are just as long.

Oh, I think I told that story very well.

Of course, I guess it means more to those that have seen certain previous posts of mine.

Hopper ( and the Monoprice unit) gone?

If so, should post the info in the Dish section of the forum.

Almost 25 years.

It didn't take long on the phone, about 13 minutes. Excellent CSR. Yes, I had to listen to a pitch and answer questions. She DID make me a very attractive offer, for one year. I'm guessing with a two year contract. Might have gone a bit lower, but we've stopped watching Dish and get what we watch via DTV MyEntertainment and YT. Certainly not as good or functional as the H3. But $125 vs $39 softened the blow.

After losing terabytes of EHD material, and then losing OTA, it's become a game of "what next?"

She released me from needing to return the LNB. But if the roofers get here and remove the antennas soon enough, I'll gladly send it back.

Top 2 pics show most of the EHDs I was using. Three of them are HW RAID arrays. Then they went away, or their contents did.

Then I was down to the H3 and Apple TV STB. And then no H3. Rearranged things to move the Sony UHD player and OPPO (only thing I have that plays SACD and DVD-A) up. And the VCR (which I discovered had been sitting there for years and was never actually hooked up) and APC line conditioner / UPS also went up a shelf. Freed up two other UPSes.

Now I have a bunch of EHDs, a single tuner OTA module and unit of issue SL of remotes. She wanted ONE remote back, and that's what they'll get.

Bobby has been helping me with the tremors.
