Trailer: 'Star Wars Rebels' bridges episodes III and IV
The debut trailer for late 2014 TV series "Star Wars Rebels" promises to fill in the gaps between the film franchise's episodes III and IV with a new cast of characters.The 2014 CGI cartoon series sees street-smart teenage con-artist Ezra join up with a group of daredevil rebels.There's secret cowboy Jedi Kanan, artistic explosives expert Sabine, skillful pilot Hera, the muscular and articulate alien Zeb, and astromech droid Chopper.Taylor Gray of Disney show "Bucket and Skinner's Epic Adventures" plays Ezra, Freddie Prinze Jr. ("Robot Chicken") steps into the shoes of Kanan, Sabine is played by Tyra Sircar ("The Vampire Diaries"), Vanessa Marshall of "The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" provides the voicework for Hera, and cartoon veteran Steve Blum ("Cowboy Bebop," "Transformers Prime") lies behind the gravelly vocals of Zeb.May 4, dubbed Star Wars Day, also brought a video greeting from J.J. Abrams, the director of "Star Wars Episode VII," and scriptwriter Lawrence Kasdan."We feel very fortunate to be here in London working on the next 'Star Wars' script," said Kasdan, as both writer and director wished viewers "a very happy Star Wars Day."Abrams anticipated that casting announcements would continue and July's San Diego Comic-Con may prove fertile ground for such updates to be issued.The one-hour "Star Wars Rebels" premiere is to take place on the Disney Channel this fall, with following series episodes broadcast on Disney XD.
