Trying to hook up a Panasonic E85H DVD Recorder to Directv HD Receiver

I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to coordinate the Tv Guide Portion of the DVD Recorder with the Direct TV Box? I can record shows if I set the timer programer myself and turn the DVD Recorder to Line L1. This is the first time I have a box attached to the Recorder as before I just plugged my cable wire into the back of the DVD Recorder.

The only way that you can coordinate the two is to set up the timers on the two for the same time. Providing that the DirecTV receiver has the auto tune feature.

So there is no way to coordinate the Receiver with the guide on the DVD Recorder? I tried using the IR Cable but the Direct Tv box is not listed as an option on the Recorders Cable boxes. I tried to use the nonlisted option codes but none of them worked. I was hoping someone has the same Recorder I do and figured out a way to make the guide on the DVD recorder work with Directv.

Unless you use the autotune feature, I don't think you can do it.

Side note: Way back in the day, I had a Sony DirecTV Sat receiver (A2) that could control many of the Sony VCRs in the manner that the OP wants. Sdaly, they don't do that any more. With DVD recorders this would be great.
