TV Japan free?

I have "heard" that TV Japan news programs are free on 640.
Can anyone confirm, and tell me what time(s) available?

yes they are free

TVJapan is on 61.5/148 for sure dont know about 118.7...best thing to do is check the guide. It clearly says "TVJapan FREE" or something of the nature

Yes. As for times, check the guide on your receiver. The free programs are not in red. Seems like about a fourth of their programming is free. If you do not speak Japanese, some of the newscast (not all) have English sap.
Also, TVJapan is duplicated on another satellite and shown on 675. Channel 675 might be easier since you will not need a wing dish for 148 or 61.5 to receive channel 640 but you will need a dish capable of receiving 118.

Seems like I remember now that the channel does not show in the guide if you do not have a dish aimed at the satellite. Sorry I do not check TVJapan as much as I used to (I have a wing at 148 for my locals) but I know they show the news just about every 4-5 hours. Good luck.

I cannot do that as I have TV Japan now and thinking about dropping it.

well according to the program guides at dishnetwork.com,zap2it etc

news seems to be at (all times Central)
