What causes the nightly update (MENU>8>4) to sometimes occur one hour after it's indicated time? This does not always happen, but when it does there are NO DVR timers that would cause a conflict. What's odd is that the update will occur EXACTLY one hour after the time selected. BTW, I have a 722k - the same great receiver that provides the occasional sluggish guide and/or menu and the arbitrary deletions of "My Rentals" - see thread in Blockbuster forum. Don't get me wrong - I love the receiver and its features, but I love it more when it all works as it should:D

If you have an EHD active (plugged in and powered) then it will do a fsck before it starts the reboot.
Pull out the USB or power it off before or even during the "wait" and it will start the reboot within ~ a minute.
A full 2TB drive will take more than an hour, smaller ones will take less time.
