Baesah (ID: 7LK): The leased receiver will be free but there is a $95.00 for the tech visit. It can be free too if we add the Protection plan.

Baesah (ID: 7LK): The Protection Plan fee is $7 per month and includes the following: 24/7 tech support, Advance Exchange Repair (with FREE shipping - $15 value), and a $15 Technician Visit, if a problem can not be solved over the phone (discounted from $95 - save $80!). This warranty covers all active equipment displaying the DISH brand and all installations that were performed by DISH or an authorized retailer.

Ash Hutto: so if i upgrade from my hopper now to a hopper w/ sling there is $0 cost???

Baesah (ID: 7LK): Yes. We have this DISH it in up promotion. This is a leasing promotion. There will be a 24 months contract and you need to provide a credit card or debit card under your name. There will be a card hold of $1, but it will be released after 3-4 business days. This is to ensure that is a valid card belonging to you and has an available balance.

At this time I haven't seen any Hopper w/ Slings at no cost from the upgrade offer. Send me a PM, and I will check into it.

There might have been some confusion between $0 cost and $0 installation with PP.

It's costing me $100/HWS from the original Hopper. Replacing both my original Hoppers which I got in Dec. Dealing with Ray from DIRT, he waived the $95 visit fee.

I just went through this exact scenario. The customer service rep told me the upgrade to the HWS would be FREE. I asked him several times and he confirmed it to me. He told me the same thing about only charging a $1 hold on my credit card. The charge of $200 was put on my bill before I even received the HWS, so DIRT told me to just refuse the delivery from UPS when it came and UPS would return it to DISH with no shipping charge to me. It took me two week working with the DIRT team to get the $200 charge off my bill. DISH really needs to get their customer service act together. Fortunately, the DIRT team got things straightened out, but I spent a large amount of time trying to rectify a mistake from the regular customer service people.

Just ran into this also. Had Dish come out and take a Joey out and put another Hopper in. Asked how much it would be.

The CSR said nothing. Now I was surprised but I did ask a few times to make sure it was free. Well I got my bill with a $100 fee on it. Called Dish up, spoke to a customer retention CSR and they dropped it. She said they have had a lot of issues with CSR's saying it was free.

Sounds like Dish needs to send a company wide memo out to their CSR's..

Or back up what the customer service reps are saying and actually give the upgrade for free as they promised.

asked a series of CSR's how much it would cost to replace my current hopper to one with sling.

Rep 1: $560

Rep 2: $450

Rep 3: $515. Quoted that I would need to pay a "$100 upgrade fee" on top of the $450. Plus $15 for a tech visit.

Rep 4: Gave me the price of $450, then told me I would need to pay $100 for a "118.7 dish". I asked her why I would need that dish, when my current dish is already installed with the old hoppers?

She came back a few minutes later and said it was a "system error" that made her ask for the extra $100. She did not mention a $100 upgrade fee like the previous rep.

So I then asked her why I would have to pay this much when other people got their upgrade for free. She said I didn't have the offer on my account to do so.

So I asked her if there were any other offers on my account that I could take advantage of.

She then transferred me to an account specialist. She basically just repeated what REP:4 said.

So there you have it folks, 4 reps who all told me something different...

Upgrading a Joey to HWS for $128 (including 4 month minimum for PP) through DIRT.
I started doing this a couple months ago and was told of the impending fee increases which I posted about here. Glad to see that has been (at least temporarily) averted.

In my case i was told $200 for HWS. Going to contact a local retailer later see if i get a better deal.

The qualification for our promotions are based on many factors of an account. If you are unable to get a better deal at a local retailer, I would recommend checking back with us at a later date to see if a better plan is available.

I thought there was a post just above this one with Zach....oops sorry Scherrman..... stating the Hopper WS are now $0 to upgrade? Did I misunderstand that thread? I did read through it.
