I really, really wished Dish would open up the 4000 range channels to all HD subscribers! I HATE to change guides and map-downs, and the 9400 channel range is a freaking disaster!

See ya
Tony

Yes they really need to do something about the 9400's.

A HBO here, a Starz channel there... here an HBO there a starz then a few more starz starz.. E I E I O

why are the mapdowns even nessary. can't multiple physical streams share the same channel number?

I've finally abandoned the 94xx range and created a custom list of the map downs

They did - it is called mapdowns to 101 through 480.

No, Dish's channel HD channel numbering is still a mess even with mapdowns.

You have some channels like HDNet and Universal HD that are only available in the 9400 channel range and others like MGM and Smithsonian that are only available randomly in the 300s.

I went inot my various favorites lists and deleted all the 84-- channels and added everything to the under 400 channels. Plus my locals are mapped down to their 3-55 range. I just ignore channels above 400. Of course I feel for Tony who keeps up that master list.

And why, for the love of god, could they not have put HDNET Movies and MGM immediately following the Starz channels? Then at least these 2 movie channels would be next to the premium movie channels instead of having to have HDNET, HDTHTR, MHD, UNI and SMITH stuck in btwn movies.
