Mapdown type change is all. Not known what it does, but this type of change caused WSBK Superstation to show on channel 38 of those subscribers to Superstations. In this case it should not cause a problem.

Just checked out palladia, I like the MHD logo better. Its just simpler and easyer to remember and say.

The change is because MTV-HD, VH1HD and CMT-HD are coming and will (FINALLY) have real HD content. So MTV netorks is building this new brand to showcast live concerts.

I would have liked it if they called it RAVE myself.

Old FEC = 5 usable data out of every 6.
New FEC = 7 usable data out of every 8.
More usable data = More channels possible.

FEC stands for Forward Error Correction. Basically, there is a bunch of Error Correction code built into the BitStream to make up for missing or degraded bits. The Ratio 5/6 means that only 1 bit out of six is being used for Error Correction. This means the Higher that ratio the more usable bandwidth there is for the actual content. Dish might change the FEC ratio to 7/8 on the transponders from the new Echostar XI satellite because of its higher Radiated power.
