Uplink Report - Sept 5th

On 61.5, NFLHD and StarzHD are on their own TP, and both are h.264 (mpeg4). Both streams getting around 15Mbit/s. So basically, people with 129 are getting the shaft in regards to nflhd, starzhd, hgtv and nghd.

I'd have to disagree. Dish's MPEG4 encoders are HORRIBLE, causing huge amounts of motion blur and killing small object detail... it almost makes live action look animated. I'd gladly take 8mbps mpeg2 over 15mbps mpeg4 (until they get better mpeg4 encoders, of course). The people stuck with the mpeg4 versions are getting the shaft.

Well?

359 CSNWS MOVED FROM Tp 8 ConUS beam on EchoStar 5 at 129w
TO Tp 30 on EchoStar 3 at 61.5w

360 ALTUD MOVED FROM Tp 8 ConUS beam on EchoStar 5 at 129w
TO Tp 30 on EchoStar 3 at 61.5w

How the hell is YES not one of those RSN?

The same reason NESN-HD isn't and the same reason we now have HDLite - this is about quantity, not quality and those 2 channels probably constitute more expense than 6 of the others.

DISH doesn't even carry YES in SD - why would they have it as an HD?? :D

...and even beyond that...isnt YES primarily for Yankees baseball? Do they broadcast any other sports? If the selection of the first round of RSN was in fact based on college football content, as Scott suggested, then YES doesnt exactly fit that bill, does it? (even if they had the SD channel)

Scott,

"9385 - WRIC moved from 129.0W TP 24 to 110.0W TP 31

9386 - WTVR moved from 129.0W TP 24 to 110.0W TP 31

9387 - WWBT moved from 129.0W TP 24 to 110.0W TP 31

9388 - WRLH moved from 129.0W TP 24 to 110.0W TP 31

9390 - WUPV moved from 129.0W TP 24 to 110.0W TP 23

9391 - WCVE moved from 129.0W TP 24 to 110.0W TP 23

9392 - WCVW moved from 129.0W TP 24 to 110.0W TP 23"

These are Richmond, VA locals. Did they actually move to 110 or is that a misprint?

I'm wondering the same thing. I didn't get a notice that Richmond, VA locals would be moving to E10.

It would be great if Richmond, VA locals moved to 110. 129 has way to low of a look angle for this densely wooded state.
