Couldnt read it. But we all know this will not help any of us. Just a few, and they gain money and power in voice. Like it isnt bad enough now, they want to make it worse!

They are not in business to help us.

This might be traditional TV last gasp, mergers are the only way to survive for a little while longer.

I think broadcast networks as we know them are changing quickly. If I were an affiliate of any of the networks I would be worried about their future. Everything is going to OTT direct to consumer streaming. No need for affiliates anymore.

And you dont think those local affiliates wont be on streaming? Really that naive?

You saw it happen with AM radio, now the big push to save it!

They can get to a point where they control what you watch and what you see. Your seeing it already, right in front of your face.

Well for all my life that has been the reason to have a functioning FCC? Why did they test the emergency broadcast systems?

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) controls television stations, not to dictate content, but to regulate access to broadcast frequencies and ensure stations serve the "public interest, convenience, and necessity" by promoting competition, localism, and diversity of voices. This control stems from the scarcity of broadcast spectrum, requiring the government to license its use and ensure licensees act as trustees for the public airwaves by providing diverse programming and adhering to ownership rules to prevent undue concentration of media power.

Currently the Networks will not allow affiliates to stream their content.

Look at shows like Ziva and Tony and other popular shows, the only way to see them is subscribe to Paramount +.

The Networks are killing the affiliates.

That was the "old" FCC. The one we have now not so much.

Local news...not to mention the subscriber fees affiliates milk from cable and satellite...that's a hefty stream of revenue for the networks since the affiliates started paying them
