Using the Geosat DSR200c for Globecast Programming....

I was curious, if one wanted to subscribe to Globecast programming on 97W that is encrypted? Instead on buying their receiver would they just provide a smartcard to put in the Geosat DSR200c? I have no plans of subscribing but I was curious if they would support that receiver?

unfortunately not. Much like Dish and DIrectv, Globecast will only activate their (crappy) receiver.

Alot of channels are free to clear on the satellite. Are you sure its a subscription service?

Yes there are a few on the lyngsat site that show there is a few encrypted channels from Globecast.
