I had everything hooked up yesterday and I wanted to know if it is possible to just use the tv speakers on my Panasonic hdtv when watching uverse tv. I don't always want to fire up my full home theater sound system when watching uverse. I currently have an hdmi cable going straight to my tv from the uverse receiver along with the optical out from the uverse rec going to my ht receiver.

This works fine for everything but just wanted to be able to use the tv speakers only sometimes. Thanks for any input.

I was able to get the tv speakers working by changing the digital audio option in the uverse receiver to stereo from surround. I guess that means that my Panasonic ST60 hdtv will not accept a surround sound signal from the the uverse box. Thanks.

Just a stupid rant about "cord cutters"
