Like many of us, I have often desired guide data for the plethora of 24/7 channels, especially the RTN's.

I have many FTA channels setup in MythTV; however, like many MythTV users here in North America, I'm using DataDirect (aka schedulesdirect.org) for downloading guide data. Works great. The problem there is you are allowed four "lineups" based on zip code. Well, when you have about 100 channels and 30+ channels are spread throughout many zip codes, it is not possible, obviously, to have data for each channel due to the lineup limitation.

So, it seems to me another alternative is perhaps to gather all of this data (somehow) and compile it into an xml file (or even concatenate into one file from several XMLTV files) into a single xml file which we FTA users could download and use in whatever program it is that we use, be it Prog, MediaPortal, MythTV, importing into SQL database, etc..

Unfortunately, I don't have the skills to perform such a task, but this is the first place I thought of to look for people that do.

Maybe you're already doing something like this...please share with us.
Maybe you even have a better idea. I'd love to hear it!

The data IS out there, just spread around too much.

PS: SchedulesDirect has kicked around the idea of self-hosting the data instead of running through TMS. This would allow the possibility of a custom "lineup" where you could add whatever channels you get (similar to the TITANTV favorites list). However, as far as I am aware, this is still up in the air and not a definite plan.
