I hit accidentally the V.format buttom in my openbox Remote Control and everything went away. I kept hitting the bottum and more problems were created. The image becomes a mess and it tooked me like 15 minutes playing around to finally get it to the right place. What happens?? What is this for??? I read the user manual and doen't tell much. I'm planning to glue this one with clear silicone so I don't hit it again accidentally. It was real hard to get the image back correctly. Anyone experienced this???

It changes the output from 480i to 525i/p to 720p to 1080i 50Mz to 1080i 60Mz, the problem is that if you are using 480i for example it takes a while to cycle through the loop to get back to where you started. There are a few threads about this here complaining about that button. Someone even took the remote apart and disabled it with tape.

Yes many people have accidentally hit that button. It toggles you into the "pal" format used in other countries. Best way to get out of it is to connect a tv to the composite output, you will see a rolling screen and a nag box, but you can see enough to navigate the menus to "TV System" and select 480i, will get you going. You don't need the V.format button right there at your finger tip as all video formats can be found in the menus. You can glue the button or some have shaved it off. I popped apart the remote and put tape on the circuit board contacts under the button, can easily be un done if needed someday.

Wow, I though I ruined everything since I just received my box. My idea of glue the button wasn't to far!!
I think it will be a better idea of place a piece tape under just in case its need it in the future. Isn't this forum the best by far?????

Thanks everyone!!!!

Unless it's been fixed and I never noticed, the problem is that it NEVER goes back to 480i. It only, every time I've checked, does 576i/p and the HD modes at 50/25 Hz rather than 60/30.

I've done that to myself too. I'd be screwed if I didn't have a composite monitor that I could use. This might be a firmware change they could make for the N. America boxes.
