Not user error ....
He just didn't know how it was gonna work .... nothing he did wrong .
A customer shouldn't be required to disconnect his recvrs before leaving .... but he should have known would record nothing ahead of time.
Electronic devices are sensitive. If one goes out of town, especially in summer( t- storms) the devices should be unplugged anyway.

I don't agree with his placement of blame, but the user should have known that it would still record, afterall he made it sound like he knew what was going on with the equipment. Till he got home and found out otherwise.
