Verizon Digital Media Services, which offers technology that enables streaming on a wide variety of screens, is in talks with owners of more than 300 affiliates that want to supply programing directly to consumers over the Internet, Ralf Jacob, chief revenue officer, told Reuters. Stations could use the technology to stream news or other local programing.

I'm guessing it only be the truly local content, though? So no programming that comes from a larger network, and probably no sports?

(I for one, wish that more local stations did a live stream of news like WGN Chicago, etc. have. And, I still don't know why Dish (or someone) couldn't set up a News Superstation with a newscast from a different local market every half hour around the clock. I think that would be a really neat service.)
