Try going into your tv's settings, and look for something like "TruMotion" and/or "De-Judder", and play with the various ways you can modify that, and see if it clears up for you.

If we had some idea what kind of TV you are using, it would help us give a better answer. A model number may elicit an even better answer.

rtings mentions blurring problems with external sources. The unit, according to them, offers good motion processing.

If this isn't as noticeable with other action DVDs, I'd be suspicious that your DVD has a marginal quality mastering.

If you have an Amazon Prime subscription and a reasonable Internet connection, they offer The Great Escape free at this time. Their master seems grainy, but the jump scene looks not too bad with my Roku 3 and HDTV so it might help establish a reference.

This may sound silly, but have tried viewing it on a CRT? This is a widely known issue with gamers and some are actually buying up old CRTs. In fact, with the retro gamers, the input processing lag of modern screens also make games harder to play and they are also reverting to CRTs.

CRTs suffered a similar problem on the other side of the cycle known as persistence. The white to black time often ran as high as 70ms while the lowest persistence may have been down to 15ms. LCD typically runs 2-3ms black to white to black if you believe the spec sheets.

While it may not appear to be blurry, a whole lot of detail is lost to dots that are dimming relatively slowly. It is less distracting perhaps but damaging to the accuracy of the rendering nonetheless.
